File path to links
When users copy/paste a link to a local folder on a server in Team, that link currently comes through as text. This causes other users to have to copy/paste the link into a new file explorer address bar. What I would like Teams to do is convert this path into a hyperlink automatically, so they only need to click on the link to open the local folder.
For example, if I have a server share mapped to S:\, with the folder "FolderName" inside of it, and I would like to share the contents of this folder with another employee. I would copy the path "S:\FolderName", and send it to that employee. In the current setup, they would copy "S:\FolderName", open a file explorer, click into the address bar, delete what is in there, then paste and hit enter. If this were changed to a hyperlink, all of those steps would go away. They would simply need to click the link, file explorer would open to that path and we'd be done.
This is a repeated feature request I am getting from my coworkers. Thanks!
We would appreciate it if you could improve it as soon as possible.
Yeah, that would be a great function!
i'm impressed that many people has already requested this function. and wondering how soon this will have been added on TEAMS.

It is mandatory for a seamless teamwork inside a company - please integrate this function (our desired file link syntax looks like this: conisio://SOLIDWORKSPDM/explore?projectid=1202&documentid=10448&objecttype=1)
I am also trying to enter a valid file location that Teams will not accept. I should be able to have Excel open with the file path option on the Customize Ribbon so that I can simply copy the file path and paste it in the link (Can you say Hyperlink?) in teams and send it to a coworker who can then click on the Hyperlink and open my file and make changes to the file. Hello? Isn't Teams a Microsoft Product? It should operate the same way it does when I paste a file and create a hyperlink in an email.
I'm shocked this is not available now that we are all working from home this needs to be implemented. Pasting files and folders from our internal servers as links is a must!
I can't believe it is still not working. Like a car missing missing a wheel and sold as "new and hip"

Please give us working/clickable file paths.
Coworkers "send" me files to review every day. The files are on our server, and the "copy/paste the link into the file explorer address bar" workflow is pretty tedious!

UNC paths \\server\share\file should be a clickable link!

My department has 300+ people are gonna use this feature lots, we use it lots in skype conversation.
10k employees in Malaysia site alone. Please do update such feature.
Any updates on clickable path links? This would be a core feature to make Teams valuable for our team.

not only server-links. also telephone-links like: tel:*** and maillinks like mail:***@yyy.com. if you copy-paste them, they work in teams, but if you want to change dem in teams, it is not allowd.
Super important - we do not have time to upload everything to Sharepoint/OneDrive
We have many files on internal servers we just need to link in a channel
it's super important

going to need some more votes to get this seen...top suggestions have 10,000+ votes and at the time of this post, we are at 214. Doesn't mean it won't get implemented, but it is less likely if MS doesn't see it. /shrug

I will add my voice to this. I will probably continue to use Outlook instead of Team messaging for many communications without this capability. The link sharing modality needs to include a mechanism for indicating what the full path is even if there are spaces. For example, you can use "<" and ">" to encircle a path in Outlook to convert it to a clickable link even if there are spaces.

Someone from Microsoft please enable this. This would be a huge improvement

I have several spreadsheets posted in one of my Teams environments.
We don't seem to be able to get all of the links to the tabs in our spreadsheets to work.
This appears to be random, as it works in some of the tabs, but not others.
And if we open the spreadsheet in Desktop Apps, it seems to work fine.
Are we missing something? Do we need to rewrite our link formulas?
What is the missing ingredient here?
Can you provide some information about this, please?
We would like all of them to work 100% of the time for every team member.
Thanks for your time.
Quite frustrating that this doesn't work, needs sorting.
My links are always to the full network "\\" path (i.e. NO "S:\" mapped letters which may be different for each user).
But this still doesn't work! All I get is this "Invalid Link" error (attached).
Important feature. Not sure how it was overlooked.
