Facebook has a concept of "Turn of notification for this post" on per conversation basis on a post where someone is tagged or added a comment. So people don't get spammed if they choose not to be notified on a certain conversation.
Currently in Microsoft Teams the Notification settings only allows user to turn it off for all conversations and not on per conversation basis.
Completely agree - I hate being spammed by conversations which you no longer have any input on. I don't want to silence the channel - just a conversation in the channel.
Only be notiied when there's a post not the comments, unless you are @'d
Equally it would be useful to set notification settings per channel. A support channel I might notify in everything but for a general one only if I’m mentioned and an obscure one maybe just on some keywords . Slack does this right.

This is a great idea -- one of my favorite features from Facebook. Otherwise, you sometimes won't make a comment simply because you know it's going to be heated and result in a million notifications you don't want. But then your input is lost....
