Allow copying whole chat conversations
Currently, it's not possible to select & copy more than one message in a chat. When I try to select two or more messages, the focus stays on the first message making it impossible to copy whole chat.
There are some really ugly workarounds like: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams/Copying-conversations/td-p/62849 which I don't consider a solution of the situation.
I want to be able to select multiple messages at once and copy them by hitting CTRL+C.

Thank you for your suggestion! We really appreciate the feedback and idea. We have reviewed this request and started working on it. I’ll let you know as it nears completion.

I've been able to copy teams conversations by popping out the message then copying it and pasting

Today is Friday, August 7, 2020, 646 days after Suphatra's comment, Microsoft has "started working on it." Is it any wonder Google is taking over the world?

Not only should it be possible to copy and paste but if possible to export the conversations from the chat area

I find it hard to concieve that Microsoft wants users to consider this a serious collaboration tool. A facility for exporting the conversation history from the chat in a meeting is absolutely necessary. There are often important questions, points, and references posted in the chat. Other online conferencing will do this without blinking and have been able to do it for years, if not from their inception.

It will make our daily work as physicians who use Teams to chat with several colleagues in the field more efficient to be able to copy and paste the entire chat at once from Teams to our electronic medical record system.

Yes, our company deletes chats after a day so I keep losing important info - it would be extremely useful to be able to copy it all out at once.

Why am I having to comment on this 2 years and 9 months AFTER Petr came up with an excellent suggestion for solving this problem. What is the problems with getting this done? Last I heard Accenture is the largest user of TEAMS in the world. Can you not sit down with Microsoft and get them to prioritize this as a deficiency in the product? Get this done!

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!
I need to copy/paste a conversation, but 20 months since a fix was (allegedly) started, it *still* does not work. Teams would be far superior to its predecessor Skype if only it had this one basic feature that somehow amazingly got missed.

Please do this we have many incidents and projects and need to keep the information for known error database (KEDB), incident model, as well as audit purposes.

Amazing that in 2020 there is an app (from Microsoft no less) that doesn't have a cut and paste capability.

It's been MANY, MANY months. Just how hard are you working on what should be a very simple feature? FIX THIS!

+1 for this please, Skype had this pre-Microsoft yet Skype for Business did not, hated SfB so was so excited when got Teams, better than SfB in many other ways, but lack of this feature is about to mean a big waste of my time so a bit grumpy about it! Any idea of a date @Suphatra?

Not as Stupid as Microsoft Teams commented
"We have reviewed this request and started working on it." working hard at it 1.75 years later I assume b/c it is still not possible? You know why right? It's purposeful. Thanks Microsoft!

I've just changed jobs and now forced to teams, previously used slack
I can't believe such basic tasks are so difficult to do.
Was expecting copy and paste from a chat to work correctly - I had universal copy and paste on Windows 3.1 over 30 years ago and we appear to be going backwards. Copy and paste is the very simplest & primitive form of abstraction and should have been nailed by now.
Would also like context options for productivity like 'copy to email', 'copy as plain text' etc
People wonder why slack has a market cap of 18bn, when it's just a basic chat app at its core, it's because vendors like microsoft shoot themselves in the foot and expect customers to manage with a load of toss like teams chat

Hi reading through the threads it would be really great if we could export all/ay conversations in a teams channel especially when being used virtually to support people. This would allow us time to interrogate the questions and identify any lessons learnt.

Copy entire team chat and paste into NOTEPAD as plain text should work without major formatting issues.
Want to get the text of the chat with no graphics formatting.
Would like for teams to allow for plain text editing when composing a message and not use a formatted text editor which breaks for anything other than a short message.
For example, responding to a short question like "How do i troubleshoot printer in the 11th floor copy room?" requires entering 20 to 30 lines of text, which when editing, re-editing, correcting will eventually break the teams rich text editor.
Solution is to edit in Word, notepad the cut and paste into teams.

We are certainly hearing from many users at our organization that we're needing similar capabilities.
It also looks like there is a very similar User Voice request to this one that has over 1900 votes:
https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/32184895-export-your-conversations-to-a-documentWe'd love to see some movement or updates on where this may be in the process.
