Bose Bluetooth headphones keeps dropping during meeting
Almost every meeting I attend on Microsoft Teams forces my Bose wireless headphones to disconnect during the meeting on my 2016 Macbook pro. Not only does it disconnect, but it unmutes my speakers on the Macbook so everyone in the office can hear what's happening in the meeting. It only happens on Teams and is really rather unacceptable. I avoid teams as much as possible as a result.

Here's what worked for me:
Bluetooth headphones on and connected. Right click on tray icon for volume, choose "Playback Devices". My headphones have a mic, so they're also a "headset". They were set as Default Communications Device under headset (yay!), but they were NOT set as default device for headphones (boo!), and this is why they kept turning off. So, right click on the Headphones option for your headphones listed, and choose "Set as Default Device". Now both headset and headphones options have green checks, and no turning off.
I am also facing the same issue (i.e. the audio drops after exactly 10 mins of the call) with my newly bought SONY CH710N headset on teams, is there any way out?

The same problem, it drives me nuts, I have bought brand new Bluetooth for an office call, it gets disconnected and switches off the Bluetooth in every 20 minutes. I was about to return then found this website
When I try youtube or any other website, it works well.
Anyone has any solution for the same??

Please try the following:
Go to Teams
Click your image (top right hand side)
Uncheck all options listed there (toggle to disable)
..and let me know if it worked (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Having the same problem on : Lenovo X260, T495, Dell XPS 2in1 7390! I am using Sennheiser PXC-550 and I had this problem on two pairs. I sent the initial pair of Sennheiser in service because I thought they were faulty and the second pair does the same thing....
After about 10-20 mins in a Teams call, the headsets disconnect from BT, there is no way to reconnect them unless I restart the laptop (even if I manually restart the audio service they won't start working again). The headsets are fine since, when connected via cable to the laptop they have no issue whatsoever. So definitely there's a Teams - Bluetooth problem. I found no windows logs nor Teams logs which would indicate something went wrong. Absolutely no problem when the headsets are connected to my phone, TV or other devices.
I have same issue with AKG Y50BT headset. Every 30 minutes on a teams conference, it will power off the BT headset and switch to computer speakers. This does not happen in any other app or even if the computer is sitting at idle for hours. Headset will not auto power off.
Also if using teams phone to make a call, the headset will stay on as long as you are in the call. It only seems to shut off when doing teams audio/video meetings that are not through the teams calling features (with an actual phone #).
I seem to have fixed this problem with my Taotronics SoundLiberty 79 earbuds with mic. Before the audio would consistently disconnect a few minutes into the Zoom call. The earbuds have 2 modes - Headphone (stereo) and Headset (hands-free). I disabled the Stereo mode in the Windows Sound Control panel in Settings and this seems to have fixed the issue. I suspect Zoom had been trying to toggle from hands-free to stereo when I hadn't been speaking for a few minutes and got into trouble and it doesn't seem to handle changing between audio devices very well. Hope this helps.
Hey guys, I had a similar problem with my new JBL Club 700BT, I am using a Lenovo T490 laptop and I was getting disconnected around 20min, the microphone would just go off on Teams and Skype for business.
I have updated my Intel Wireless Bluetooth Driver from version 21.1x.xx to 188.8.131.52
and this seems to have fixed the problem, my microphone does not disconnect anymore, tested both on skype and teams.
I found the latest driver on the lenovo website
Please check for the latest bluetooth driver from your respective Laptop manufacturers website and update manually and restart the system.

As a programmer, I have to ask, what in the world is Teams doing? This can't be that difficult to solve. It drives me nuts when this happens and then MST seems to ignore user input.

I have tried bluetooth headset from Bose and a couple of pairs of earbuds from TOZO. They all have issues with Teams. We are using teams all day for all our meetings and it would be able to use bluetooth earphones.
I had the same issue...I used Audio Technica ATH-ANC500BT, working fine only for audio (Youtube etc) but not working for MS Teams in Lenovo T460 Windows 10.
I have a Samsung U Flex headphone and the handsfree profile just doesn't work on most laptops (all Windows 10). A2DP profile (stereo mode) works perfectly. I really think it's something to do with Intel and Realtek wireless adapters because a Windows 10 laptop with Broadcom bluetooth adapter works just fine. Can you guys tell me your bluetooth adapter model seen in device manager on Windows?
P.S sometimes it works if I do this while on a call in sound control panel:
Disconnect stereo mode
Reconnect stereo mode
Disconnect handsfree AG audio
Reconnect handsfree AG audio
But it's really annoying and sometimes doesn't work.
i see that some people solved it by using the web version of Teams, the desktop one will keep doing that until you buy a "qualified by Team" headsets. funny
I found the comment below, and I see the logic behind it. Somehow our headset thinks is time to save battery and disconnect, they don´t recognize the "handsfree" as a mode that needs the headset to be awake, and stop it to save battery. Some headphones you solve it by changing the configuration using an app. that in my case doesn't exist I think.
Hi, my guess is that it has to do with the following configuration :
* bluetooth headphone (mine is a bose QC35 II)
* windows computer (does not happen with my mac or my ipad)
* while in conference (does not happen while just listening to music
I suspect it has to do with the fact that headphone, while listening to music, are considered as Stereo headphone, not considering the input mic.
When a conference will start, be it teams, or meet, or workplace... the audio settings switch to Handfree Headset... and there will start the problems every 20 to 45 minutes...
F***ing windows bluetooth and sound management.
I did a lot of research and read that Teams only works with compatible JABRA wireless headsets. as I already tried it on my Bose and Skullcandy Indy earphones. After 20 mins to the clock the mic drops. This is so annoying. Is anyone from Teams even following this thread. This sucks but I am stuck to teams due to my work.
Same issue here with MS Teams and SKYPE. The Headset is a wireless brand new Sony CH710n. Inf act I was planning to return it, but now I see that is a problem with the Microsoft programs in my Windows.
It's not just the headphones; Teams disables Bluietooth completely (including keyboard and mouse) and removes theBluetooth icon as well as Bluetooth services . The only way to recover it is to fully close down and start again (restart does not work to bring back Bluetooth). This really, really needs fixing. . .This is on a good laptop with Windows 10 (Dell XPS 13)

I have the same problem with Samsung Galaxy Buds and happens every 20 minutes almost to the second of joining. Audio still works but the mic is just gone. Still shows up in device manager and sound panel but just gone. If I leave the meeting and come back, it resets the 20 minute timer.
I have the Bose Bluetooth QC35 II headset. I was going nuts because my headset would turn off like clockwork after I was on a Microsoft Teams meeting for 20 minutes. This is due to your power save feature for the headset.
If you have the app on your phone, open the app and go to your Settings. My headset had 20 minutes set as the default before the headset will turn off to save power. I set it to three hours instead. Some people might want to turn off the power save feature entirely if they are on calls that are 3 hours or longer.
