Indicator if talking on Mute
Mute option is very helpful when we don't want to be heard and prevent and disturbance in ongoing conversation however at times we un-knowingly forget to un-mute before talking on call or in P2P call. It would be helpful if we have indicator which alerts speaker if talking on Mute.
I think it needs to be a flashing light - something that shows On or Off Mute .. Being On mute is just as important as being off mute

This hasn't quite eliminated the 'I was on mute' issue, it is still very prevalent. Also the inverse applies in that it should be obvious when you are *not* on mute as that causes accidents too.
Please consider moving the Microphone indicator from the control bar (which hides itself unless you mouse over the screen) to a permanent location which is always clearly visible, and if the mic is picking up and transmitting audio it should light up to indicate so.
A push to talk feature would also be appreciated. e.g. push the space bar to transmit, and when you release it stops transmitting audio..
Is this flagged as resolved then? It still happens over an over in meetings. I suggest an audible beep if you talk and are muted. The text on screen assumes you're looking at the screen and even then the text is small. If someone's presenting it is overlooked. I might go crazy if I head "Oh sorry, I was on mute" 20 to 100 more times, which will likely by the end of this week.

Teams has had this functionality for quite some time already - since around November 2017 - https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/skypehybridguy/2017/11/17/microsoft-teams-sorry-i-was-talking-on-mute/
Glad this was already posted, as I came here to submit this idea. I just got off a Teams meeting, and just like every day for the past month, there were multiple instances where someone was asked something, followed by 10 seconds of dead air, then either they popped back on, or the first speaker had to ask if they were on mute.
A side idea would be to allow team members (or designated meeting admins) to mute/unmute other members.
