Enable Team Owners to assign members as followers of a channel
The way that Channels work is not particularly useful when it comes to getting users to adopt and use Teams. The workflow for project channels should be:
Set up the channel, set it's purpose, specify which people in the team need to follow the channel, have them automatically follow it, and then @channel them all and welcome them - and only them - to the new project channel.
- Channel creators should be able to specify which colleagues need to be following the channel, and do this for them automatically to help them get to know Teams works and ensure they are part of the project channel.
At the moment, I have to invite people by email and send them instructions and a screenshot of how to follow a channel, so they will get the direct notifications.
The channel email distribution list idea is archaic and defeats the purpose of something like Teams.
Then, using @channel should ONLY notify and email team members following that channel - instead of the whole team - this is DUMB and again defeats the purpose, does not make people want to use Teams.

I second this, this is getting very annoying!
"At the moment, I have to invite people by email and send them instructions and a screenshot of how to follow a channel, so they will get the direct notifications."
Or I have to add mentions, but that list gets very large very quickly.
"Then, using @channel should ONLY notify and email team members following that channel - instead of the whole team - this [...] defeats the purpose, does not make people want to use Teams." --> an update on this, now people who have UNHIDDEN the channel will be notified when '@channel' is used. (Read mentions in team settings).

I need the possiblity to have all of my team follow a certain channel, otherwise my team will miss important information. An opt-out would be fine. However I need to be able to reach my team by default.
