Register Global Hotkey
Register a global hotkey for windows (e.g. Win + T) to open up a new chat window, without having the application active.
s4b has such a global hotkeys
and ability to Customize the hotkeys
This item is not currently under consideration, though multi-window is the works.
Please keep the feedback coming and I will keep bringing it to the feature team for review.

I don't know if there's a more popular version of this request but I remember brilliantly Win+Q bringing up skype, which then was daftly changed to Ctrl+Alt+Shift+3, and now there's nothing except for the hack to put it ant point n on the taskbar and use Win+n.
I don't mean to hijack the thread, the the mute-microphone function also needs a global hotkey. It's dumb to have to scramble to activate the window in order to turn your mic on in a meeting.

@Warren: in Skype for Business, we could press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+3 to Open the Skype for Business Main form, then do search for colleague name, then chat **without having my finger off the keyboard**.
But for TEAMS, I must grab the mouse, then double click on taskbar icon, IMHO, the above global hotkey is better.

Skype for Business has WIN+SHIFT+O to open the UI and respond to an alert. Teams should have the same.
