Promote Checklist Item UI in Planner needs better feedback and Undo
When you click the promote button on a checklist item in Planner, the item disappears with no indication of what happened. I've had users complain that items are being deleted.
The item was properly promoted to its own task, but the UI does not give the user any indication of what happened.
I've tested this on the OWA/Browser version of Planner and the Windows desktop version of Planner.
Perhaps a fading message could be added. Or perhaps the checklist item could be left in the list for a moment, with a message about what happened and undo and dismiss buttons.
A lot of people must have this same issue, I was expecting to reorder the checklist and the item disappeared, I didn't think to look elsewhere for the "promoted" item!
I wanted to move a Checklist item up in the list, and hit this icon. Now it is a task in itsself?! I want to demote it, how?
I fell into the same trap as others in thinking promote would move the sub task up the list but it creates a new task.
For information: to move sub tasks and order them is just accomplished by click->drag and drop
Also it's very easy to accidentally click on the delete button.
Bam!! it's gone...
Yes, this is completely unexpected behavior. The ordered list needs to be able to reorder items, and instinctively, and in most applications, the up arrow is an indicator to reorder the item in the stack. Promote should be named "create task". Lists have poor functionality for sure.
We are also having this problem, we would like to move items up and down a checklist, depending on priority. The ability to promote and demote would also be helpful.

I thought that the promote button move the checklist item up in the list. That is what that promote arrow should do. or another function needs to be added where you can move checklist items up or down in the list

I agree, also consider the option to demote. I now have wrongly promote tasks that should be checklist items. The only resolve now is to delete and recreate the items.

I have a lot of tasks that contain subtasks, but wanting to delegate those subtasks I promote the subtask to a seperate task. But wanting to have a overview of the entire progress of the task (including subtasks) I would like to have the ability to keep the subtask on my task
