The reply bar is taking some valuable screen realstate and looks ugly repeating itself for every message. Instead add it to the like section of the message. Attached is issue and solution rough illustration.

Whatever the placement - my plea is to please make the REPLY option much more prominent. We have users starting *brand new conversations* to say "Me, too," and "Done," and "I dunno, what do you want for lunch?" rather than attaching their replies to the main topic. Please make it bigger, or red, or appear as an actual old school beveled button ...

I disagree, Mike's comment below is a worse problem that this change would make even worse. Please don't implement this!

I actually have the opposite problem. The reply box actually prompts the user to put the reply to the message there. For more non-technical users, this hint is very helpful.
However, the reply banner is sometimes hidden when Teams scrolls the messages, so the user is starting a new conversation instead of replying to it

Absolutely a good solution!
I agree, it bloats the screen and can cause confusion when you have half the members responding in an IRC style board and other replying to individual threads.
