Alerts in guest tenants
When you've been given access to a team as a guest there is currently no way to be alerted. All the little red notification only appear when you visit the guest team's tenant within Microsoft Teams. A notification on the account in "Your Accounts" would probably work.

This is critical for guests to be able to collaborate, without which we need to send an email to ask the guest to come on chat :-(

Yes. And with latest Teams upgrade, even the Red notification has been removed.

+1 - isn't this a Slack feature? This feature lacking is preventing us from using Teams to collaborate with other companies

Using teams with external partners, customers, etc. really requires some kind of notification. We already had cases where communication got missed, because guests were not notified. This would be a very helpful feature. Also, from Planner the email notification do not work for externals, means if someone get a task assigned, a due date comes, a new comment in the task., etc. externals are not notified. that is one point preventing us from using that tool.

This seems to have become worse with the new upgrade to tenant switching. There used to be little red dots next to each tenant name if you had unread stuff. Now it's an extra click to see the list of tenants and no red dots. How do I know if someone in another tenant has messaged me?

+1 Please fix this! I have 3 separate tenants on my Teams and am constantly missing urgent messages and only receiving email notifications 1+ hour later.

It is long overdue that Microsoft tries to find a better solution here!

We absolutely need to talk with providers and customers so unless this feature or any method to talk with different companies and users from other tenants is solved, people will keep using alternative applications.
We need a solution!

This is an important feature to consider introducing the Teams app.

Notifications to guest users are not complete in mobile apps.
Notification with icon and badge is required.
