Channel only members & guests
Channel only members enable collaboration with people outside the team in a specific channel, without granting them access to the team itself. The channel member could be someone in your organization, or external to your organization (guest).
Thank you for the interest in meeting with research. All slots have been filled (in under 6 minutes).
This item remains on the backlog for now. Thanks!
Gotta have this.

If a slot opens up, I’m a BA with several use cases outlined to discuss this topic!

Signed up for one of these sessions but provided an incorrect email address if someone wants to contact me directly to rearrange.

I feel this improvement may resolves challenges I face. We have individuals who we need to grant access to specific channel information or documents within a channel but they do not have a need to access all other channels within the team.
How can I handle situation that I am going to use new team for communication about XY (just because I do not want let invited members see other channels under the team where I wanted to communicate XY) I have to create a channel, invite memebers and do cooperation-chat, share files, etc? How gonna be possible migrate whole history of this "temporary" team to the channel once feature "Channel only member guests" is implemented? Am I lost history or will be possible transfer data from chat, about shared files, etc. into new channel under the different (originally wanted) team?
I'd like to add my vote to having the ability to add members to a channel within a team, without giving access to the rest of the team. Having to create a new Team every time this situation arises ends in a confusion of Teams and channels and related content spread over multiple Teams.
My question is related to the possibility to block the access of "Guest members" to the info related (email) of other guest as actualy this info is availabel to all member of a TEAMS site.
I would suggest this is an essential feature to streamline Teams further. We are an international charity with national HQ and regional HQs. Head office teams oversee distinct project areas in which we work - regional teams exist both as standalone teams but also connect into the wider org by delivering each specific project area. Channel-only member guests would enable us to 'map out' the reality of how our organisation works within Teams.
I like this idea, it could come in really handy, even if it was just allowed in one channel per team (I can understand if it would be too flexible it could get confusing when combined with private channels etc), but having at least one place in a team where stuff could be opened up more fully would be useful.
Is there any update as to when Channel only member guests will be in production? Like the other 5000+ people on this thread, our company would use this function daily. creating a new team Every time doesn't make sense.

3 years on the backlog???
Get this off of backlog and into production - it is a necessity for many in order to truly collaborate across various departments. And isn't that what Teams is meant for - collaboration?!
Please look into this.
This feature would be an excellent addition for internal and external collaboration in our organisation.

This feature would really help our organization. As mentioned in other posts, we could have less teams with this kind of functionality.
We are looking at adding people from other divisions to certain Teams in order to share information. Yet we dont wish to share all of the channels with them, just certain ones.

+1 - Workaround is excess teams, which is not ideal.

This would help a lot. I have a teams with the people that report to me, and we have some channels where we need to incluide people from other sectors of the company. It would be an amazing feature to grant only access to the channel where there are only needed and not the entire channel.
This is something that would really help our organization based on not everyone being on the same organization / sub-set of the organization. This limits our capabilities and forces us to use other collaboration tools to keep track of communication with our Stakeholders. This really minimizes the effectiveness of using MS Teams for collaboration and also management buy into a single product.

This would help us immensely. We are having to create more teams to work-a-round this limitation. We could get rid of 25% of our Teams, which would mean less Teams for C-level staff, which will lead to less people being overwhelmed and less administration and more adoption. Not to mention being able to collaborate more effectively with vendors by adding them into a single channel in a team.
The impact of this feature would be huge for our organization, I would really appreciate if you could move this to the reviewing stage or event "started working on it".
Thanks for this,
