Channel only members & guests
Channel only members enable collaboration with people outside the team in a specific channel, without granting them access to the team itself. The channel member could be someone in your organization, or external to your organization (guest).
Thank you for the interest in meeting with research. All slots have been filled (in under 6 minutes).
This item remains on the backlog for now. Thanks!

Please move this off the backlog, this would be so helpful as we could eliminate a ton of teams.
This comes up regularly for us, often requiring creating a alternate Teams site to accommodate the request.
Been waiting for this too. Our workaround is to create a Private Channel and use it for internal employees. The General Channel will then be for guests.
Any update as to when such feature could be released? This is honestly preventing our team from further using TEAMS
I really look forward to the addition of this feature, or the outcome of the research!
Been waiting on this one for a hole year!

Since the day MS Teams was released, this has been and continues to be the most desired feature of MS Teams from our organization. We actually partner with another company that uses MS Teams, and we often lament about how silly it is that we still have to communicate back & forth via email since MS Teams apparently gave zero thought to inter-company collaboration. Until that day, Slack will continue to have an edge.
As we try and roll out Teams this request quickly becomes a requirement. The lack of it is a massive restriction and a recipe for chaos. IT SHOULD NOT BE ON THE BACKLOG!
Let us know MS thoughts on this and give a commitment. To say you’re working on it, then it’s on the backlog, then you want our views, and then it’s back on the backlog is no help whatsoever.

This feature is critical for collaboration with outside parties! Please please add soon!

Please add another 'up vote' to this request. It is vital for true company wide collaboration without needing a sprawling team structure which is hard to navigate successfully.
A must for avoiding team sprawl and sharing files with external organisations without granting then all access to the root of the Team

As a high school instructor with students who are trying to learn about how to collaborate through online tools, who are in a Microsoft school district, and who are trying to take on internship opportunities with individuals/groups/companies/colleges and doing real work, it is frustrating to have to use four different tools, sites, and communication methods with people outside of our school district but be able to use one for internal work with people in the district. Teams is not worth using for most of our work without the ability to have targeted communciation with external partners. A collaboration tool that doesn't actually allow for meaningful collaboration with anyone not in your organization not only undercuts its value and makes it ineffective, but it is also counterintuitive. If my program eventually has to pay for a single service solution from a different provider, we won't be using Teams even with our internal people regardless of the potential benefits because it would double our maintenance overhead and complicate our file tracking...and we aren't even bound by the same kind of market forces/constraints/concerns that commercial businesses face that would make Teams a definite no-go solution for us if we were. Please address this.
Highly agree. This is a needed feature. Inviting folks from outside the organization is key for meeting and discussing. However a limited access to a sigle channel wiull keep our internal discussion private.

Yes! Please add this!
We are a small company of four people, but we have more than fifty teams because of this limitation.
We could use Private Channels, except they can't have a Tasks (formerly Planner) tab, and you can't host meetings!

This is a must for collaborating on a single project with different units and external partners. Can't imagine why it wouldn't be a default feature! Very limiting. Hoping an update will be coming soon. Thanks for looking into it.

Really needing this feature, can't add a user to a specific channel without giving permission to the whole team, that is absurd.
Any update following the Research meeting on October 1? Would really appreciate you sharing the feedback received. Oh, and did I mention that we could do with this YESTERDAY!!
