Channel only members & guests
Channel only members enable collaboration with people outside the team in a specific channel, without granting them access to the team itself. The channel member could be someone in your organization, or external to your organization (guest).
Thank you for the interest in meeting with research. All slots have been filled (in under 6 minutes).
This item remains on the backlog for now. Thanks!
Certainly agree on these suggestions.
Being able to control access to both channels and teams, for both internal and external users, would be really great. Admins should be able to deny any guest access for a specific team and/or channel, and control whether internal/external users should be able to see channels they don't have access to.

Allow guest access permissions to be assigned at Room level instead of only at the higher Team level.
We often have a Team for any medium/large project and need to be able to work internally in private as well as externally with the client.
Currently we would have to create two separate teams for the project to deal with this scenario, whereas if access was given per Room then we would only need one.

Just like classic SharePoint Online sites, include these options per Team/O365 Group:
Allow owners to send guest user invites only (please do not allow guests invite other guests)
We risk exposing Teams meant for internal collaboration with a control that can only be enabled at the tenant-level. Would love more granularity.

When Guest access is enabled in Teams, we need the possibility to control which team (or group) can be authorized for Guest access? So, the admins can allow or restrict Guest access at team (or group level), and not only at tenant level. Exactly like for SharePoint Online sites.
Would be nice to be able to allow guests access to only specific channels. This would reduce the number of teams needed so you could have something like:
- Company 1 channel
- Company 2 channel
- Company 2 & 3 channel
Instead of something like this:
Team Company 1
- General channel
Team Company 2
- General channel
Team Company 1 & 2
- General channel
(and so on with an ever increasing number of teams when you need different combinations of guests)
As implementation of this could take a while a workaround could be to use a common team for quests but complete the support for private channels so that guests can be separated within a team (although sometimes you would not want them so see each other at all)
@Sonia if you prefer having this feature restricted to team level than that could be a configuration option. It's still a feature that can be useful for many users. The indicator for guests being in teams could also be added to specific channels.

Even internal permissions are done at the top level of a Team. You cannot restrict permissions on certain channels for internal users either. I can understand why this feels like double the work for you, but there are benefits for internal users realising they are in a Guest-enabled Team versus an internal staff only Team, in terms of being aware of what conversations they are having/content they are publishing.

This might be a duplicate that MS is working on: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16911079-support-for-private-channels
Yes this is very important for our organisation, as there might be some people in the team that we don't want viewing sensitive information. and would be nice to do this with out having to create another team

This is a must have feature and I really see the value in it.
Yes, this will be a very good feature. We unnecessarily have to create hundreds of Teams since this feature is missing. :(

Create a function that lets me create a room where I can invite people externally to present to from outside the company. Basically, a clients suite.

This seems like an obvious addition to me
In a team, there are multiple channels. Now if a member is added to the team, he/she can access any channel and view any files/documents under it. Would be really great if we can restrict him/her to only specific channel inside a team. Channel level permissions would be great along with team.
