Channel only members & guests
Channel only members enable collaboration with people outside the team in a specific channel, without granting them access to the team itself. The channel member could be someone in your organization, or external to your organization (guest).
Thank you for the interest in meeting with research. All slots have been filled (in under 6 minutes).
This item remains on the backlog for now. Thanks!
Crucial for teams collaborating with externals
Waiting for it sooo much!
Definitly a crucial feature for us to have!! Admin Access control on channel level is pre-requisite for us for a bigger rollout.

Do we have a time frame when this feature is available?
This option will be great. Slack have this option when inviting members.Teams is a great product and this will add more options in using it.
...And this can't be a big "Guests can do this" type settings. We need to control what guests can do on an individual basis. Some vendors will need read-only access to the files in one of our channels. Other vendors/contractors will need full access to two or three different channels. Other vendors/contractors might need yet another level of access. This guest pass thing only makes sense if each guest can be assigned permissions individually, and ideally have access blocked even on a tab-by-tab basis within the channel.
Does anyone know how to restrict guest access to selected Teams only?. Enabling at tenant level enables all Groups and Teams to add guests and there seem to be no straightforward control to restrict access on (internal) Teams that we do not want to be able to add external guests.
Also on this, I'd love to be able to @ people into a file conversation without having to add them as a member of the channel or team, especially if I don't have the authority to do that. Sometimes I just want to ask for an opinion from a different department. Restricted to just people within my organisation would be fine.
Please keep me posted on the progress of implementing this feature

Hope this feature will be in teams shortly, we want to collaborate with a contractor but only in one channel.
Yesterday we tested it to see if it all works, it does but the contractor could see all our documentation including secure files.
At this moment I deleted the guest account again and now waiting for this feature.
We share the need to be able to manage access at a channel level. Is there any update on when we can expect this change to be available?

Hi, with the right setup of ms teams and azure in your org's IT this can be done, see the massive popular post about guest access

Teams would be a great way to communicate with outside contacts the we deal with on a daily basis. I'm thinking of the ability to have channnels to all of our suppliers etc for quick answers.

Any chance that you could include guess access for users without Office 365? I have some customers and business partners that aren't on Office 3654 that we need to be ab le to share and collaborate with.
I would love to see guest access at an even more granular level than that. Within every channel I would like to have the option to create a customer facing side and a non-customer facing side.
I want to collaborate on project scope and planning with the customer and collaborate on internal pricing, ordering, etc. with just my team, within the same project channel.
There may be existing solutions to several of these situations, but for what it's worth, here is a use case that has been growing in our organization:
Various "working teams" come together to address various projects, questions, etc. Each working team also has a separate small Steering Committee to provide guidance and approvals. When we first started using Teams, we would add all of the working team and the steering committee to the respective Team. However, the Steering Committee didn't need all of the @Team level announcement/comments, especially since they are often on several different Steering Committees at once. As a result, we began setting up separate Working Team and Steering Committee Teams for each project.
We would love to set up a Steering Committee Channel within the Team to ease administration of a given project, facilitate easy communication with the Committee, yet also restrict @Team mentions to Owners/Members of the Working Team itself (or perhaps direct @mentions to Owners/Members/Guests directly).
For a given Steering Committee member who is involved in several committees, it would also be great to group those respective channels in the side bar to keep things clean.
What about the channel-level access?! How can you address guest access at the channel level of users don’t even have separate channel level access!!!
Guest permissions/access at Channel level please.
Having guest access at the channel level also means it would be possible to add company staff not necesarily in the team or needed to view all team channels but just a single channel. It would be very handy to have a feature like this to invite staff to channels within a team instead of the whole team.
i need to collaborate my customers into specific projects with the nature of our fast moving business in design and product development why is this not an already in play feature where i just enter their email give them access and we collaborate? please do something quickly
