XMPP interface is sorely needed.
Desperately need XMPP integration.

XMPP was and still is the interoperability standard that is quite lightweight. The new XEPs made user experience much much better than before. It is in fact not worse than any other chatting solutions. But it has a huge advantage: it is massively federated and not dependent on any commercial vendor. nearly anyone can configure one's own server for a company or family or friends. So I agree: XMPP SUPPORT IS HIGHLY NEEDED!
I personally use many (10) chatting services. Most of them use Electron-based fat clients. Does this mean that I have to run 10 copies of the Chrome browser? It is completely idiotic! I can stand running an Electron application for some important application I work with (e.g. Visual Studio Code). But certainly not for less important messaging. I use Pidgin with plugins, which is a working lightweight solution.
So an XMPP interoperability (ideal solution) or a Skypeweb-like (minimal) plugin is very important.

Try using matterbridge (https://github.com/42wim/matterbridge), which connects MS Teams with XMPP.

Good idea, and it seems it will never ever be considered hence XMPP users are diminishing.
