Sort / Order Channels
I would like to be able to order or arrange the channels as they are listed under my team. We can order tabs within a channel, but not channels under a team.

It is ridiculous that such basic functionality wasn't the first thing designed-in. How can you organize the important channels from the less important ones that you still need to keep around for the occasional announcement that needs to be read right away? Our organization doesn't even use multiple Teams....Just Channels. I can't control how our organization sets this up for us, and now I am stuck having no way of organizing this mess of Channels. Before you say it, I already hide inactive channels that I have no responsibility to. But, I can't hide bulk announcement channels which go dormant for months at a time, but then blow-up with communication all at once and then I am expected to provide input in real-time. I would prefer to order my channels by importance/activity level, and hide the dead ones altogether. Instead, I have rarely active channels mixed with my everyday channels and it is killing my brain to have to sort through stuff with my eyes every time I am looking for a specific channel to find a discussion or a file. This is the exact opposite of 5S. Way to make the workplace more streamlined, Microsoft.

Adding an emoji to the start of the channel name sorts the channel at the top which is a easy workaround.. but that has caused some issues with @ mentioning the channel occasionally.
Sort order in Team management would be nice

My workaround is that I'm using spaces to arrange the order!
The name cannot start with a space, but I'm using it in combination with subgroups.
For instance, I have:
APP - General
APP - DevelopmentThe real name of the first channel is APP - [space]General.
Teams seems to truncate them, so it still looks allright! :)You can add more spaces for more granular ordering.

Very simple feature but will be real handy..... to be able to sort channels according to our priorities. Even archiving of channels should also be allow.

I hope we will get this soon, as it might sound small, but the effect can be big especially for us working in education with hundreds of courses as channels.

Even I have faced difficulty while naming the channels numerically 1,2,3... Once I reach 9, 10, the '10' goes back to '1'. Therefore I have gone about this by renaming my channels as a,b,c...
Channel a - 1 - Channel Name
Channel b - 2- Channel Name, and so on -

Yes, we need a way to reorder channels within a Team. Currently the workaround we are doing is adding numbers but that does not work if some channels are private and not everyone can see all the channels.

Yes I agree it would be nice to have an easy way to select channels and teams as favorites like in Outlook.

The workarounds by adding / changing the numbers in front of a Channel name as priorities shift is a nightmare as it doesn't change the SharePoint names / folders and anything else that's in the background of it.

Making an order of channels per User possible would be great, but allowing the team owner to do some new ordering would be sufficient.
Reason for team owners needing this functionality: As renaming the channel still leads to confusion concerning the name of the SharePoint document folder, just renaming a now more important channel so it moves to the top is a bad idea.
Reason for users to be able to sort for themselves: in a larger team with lots of channels, some channels might be more important to some users than other or have other priorities - simply hiding or unhiding is not always the solution - sometimes I want to see 5 channels, but in a different order than alphabetically sorted :-(

This is a critical functionality for the use of Teams for courses in higher education.

Agree! I work with academics using Teams for learning and teaching - it would be great for them to be able to shift channels to the top of the list as they become important - eg an 'exam revision' channel at the end of semester.

This would be really useful - sticking a number in front of a title to get it to the top seems pretty amateur

This would be great improvement.

Would this option apply to everyone's view of a Team - or could it be user-based? In other words, if I were able to reorder the Channels, would all other users see my new order?
