Search for user you havent chatted with previously without having to click the new message button
I find myself typing an employees name in the search bar to send them a message only to find that I've never chatted with them before. When this happens you have to click the new message button and then search for the user.
It would be great if you could just type a name in the search bar to either continue a conversation in a chat you've already started OR start a new chat with anyone in your companies contact list.
I work in IT and I get asked about this somewhat frequently. Users dont know you have to click the new message first to find contacts. It's not very intuitive.
I couldn't agree more with this one! It's caused stumbles for many users at my firm, so much so that we thought our Teams implementation wasn't deployed correctly and that half of our organization hadn't adopted the tool.
In corresponding with MS Help (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_other-mso_winother-mso_o365b/microsoft-teams-search-bar-full-or-limited-user/06b72bcb-7981-459f-b348-a8c31094a731), we were able to discover that a 'search' followed by the use of the 'People' section of the left hand NAV does find ALL users, but it wasn't an intuitive workflow off the bat.
This is a serious oversight. It's the first place people go to in order to start a conversation. It's in the most prominent place and makes sense people will click on it. Or why not just populate the list of users in the chat with everyone in your organisation? Maybe it wouldn't work for larger organisations but for most SMEs it's the ideal way.
