Copy & Paste is tempermental
Users reporting multiple copy/paste issues for text:
Can't paste multi-messages. Often, only the first line pastes, the rest disappear. As one user puts it: "On the Windows 10 desktop client it is nearly impossible to copy multiple messages from the chat history. A fraction of a second after letting go of the mouse, the highlight collapses down to a single message."
Can't paste in general: "Copy & Paste is tempermental, when i try to paste text in from other sources it simply doesn't paste, but then if I only copy a few (3-6) words then it does. It means I can't do something as simple as pasting in a paragraph from an email, which I can definitely do in Skype for Business."
Can't copy/paste from Skype for Business.
When using an alternate theme like dark theme, copying messages out of Teams brings its background with it, meaning if you paste it somewhere else it has that dark gray background.
When copying something into teams, it preserves its original font color on top of the dark background, causing problems with visibility. If you are going to allow palette swapping themes, please add appropriate measures for text copied out of or into the app.
Feature request is still being worked upon.
Same here Jamie, indeed very frustrating! Right click paste or ctrl+v not working anymore.
Using Windows 10 with the latest Microsoft Teams Version 1.0.00.19451 (64-bit) -- 7/21/17.
The work around for me. Paste into Notepad, then paste from Notepad into Teams...
that's correct. Try copying formatted text from Word and paste into Teams chat. Nothing happens.

for other people stumbling across this. I'm reliably informed that this has been fixed and the fix is in the process of getting deployed out to everyone.
this is an unbelievably painful issue, please fix asap!
this is really an annoying issue and should hopefully be easy to fix (issue also seen with Win7 btw)

I concur. I've arrived at work this morning and am seeing the same, and I've verified it with two other people.
I copy (CTRL+C) some copy text from an email and then try and paste it into a new message in Teams (CTRL+V). Nothing happens. The text doesn't appear.
At a time when we are in the midst of taking Teams from an internal PoC to rolling it out to the rest of the company (of >1000people) this is embarrassing. People will hit this problem quickly and will instantly dismiss Teams as somethnig that doesn't work - and I wouldn't blame them.
This is symptomatic of a general deterioration in the message editing experience in Teams in the last few months.
-The backtick feature of markdown works sporadically (at best), sometimes it converts the text to italics
-Sometimes pressing up/down/left/right arrows on my keyboard to navigate around a message that I am editing simply doesn't do anything. Sometimes pressing the up arrow actually scrolls up through the channel and the message I'm editing disappears off the bottom of the screen.
This experience is horrible and has been getting worse and worse ever since you introduced markdown.
We detected a bug on multiple PCs in Teams desktop version. When text is being pasted to Teams nothing happens. The same text is being pasted regularly in other apps and browsers and it works.
This issue also happens when multiple lines of text is being copied from a Teams group or channel to let's say Microsoft Word. If you want to copy and paste the text back from MS Word to Teams, it just doesn't work.
This happens to all text that has any space in between the characters or at the end of the sentence. Or if you copy multiple sentences from word that were devided by empty space.
The workaround is to always select only the characters and manually remove any extra spaces. This is very annoying.

I've noticed that if you copy any text from a message in Skype for Business you are not able to paste that text into the new message area for Microsoft Teams. I can copy the text out of Skype for business and paste it into any text editing software and then copy it out of there and paste it into Teams, but I can't copy-paste it directly from Skype. It seems like there is an issue with Teams processing some meta data from Skype for business which prevents it from allowing the paste although there is no error visible to the user, it just doesn't paste it.
My company is large so although my immediate team utilizes teams primarily a lot of other teams are still using Skype for business as their primary messaging solution. This results in me moving between the two applications several times a week.
For the type of business we have that involves lot of inter-office communication this becomes an issue for human resource. I need to be able to copy and paste conversations between our upper management.

Seeing trouble with this in Windows 10, created an animated .gif to illustrate (the "save this message" and "more options" buttons make this hard), but there is no way to submit an attachment here.
I'm upvoting this issue, and will file a separate one on uservoice. :)

This is very common and implicit expected behavior. Atleast it should send a mail like Skype for business.
Absolutely insane, and makes it impossible to use!
This is a showstopper for me. It's practically impossible to copy and paste text from chat. I'd love to use Teams for chat as well but for now I will stick with Skype for Business.
Please fix this. I'm going to be avoiding chat now, except for the most trivial conversations. There are many occasions where a chat or parts of chats needs to copied and included elsewhere.

This is so counter productive. Must fix!
already voted, but also adding a commend in the hope to give it another bump, not be able to mark text from more than a single message is just bad, really bad. Are we supposed to send around screenshots again or copy 10+ messages individually???

This affects our entire company.. we are getting numerous complaints.. This is unacceptable behavior. win 10 x64
Closing the tool and reopening it has fixed the issue (not sure if this is another update or just a glitch).
BTW, this feature worked fine before (pasting multiline texts from clipboard), but around May 18-19th 2017 update stopped working...
I also support this idea, because in our internal system there is a capability to copy a ticket information for further sharing with peers. The copied text has the following format:
Userfriendly ID + Subject
Currently, only the first row is inserted and additional manual work is required instead going by URL.
