Copy & Paste is tempermental
Users reporting multiple copy/paste issues for text:
Can't paste multi-messages. Often, only the first line pastes, the rest disappear. As one user puts it: "On the Windows 10 desktop client it is nearly impossible to copy multiple messages from the chat history. A fraction of a second after letting go of the mouse, the highlight collapses down to a single message."
Can't paste in general: "Copy & Paste is tempermental, when i try to paste text in from other sources it simply doesn't paste, but then if I only copy a few (3-6) words then it does. It means I can't do something as simple as pasting in a paragraph from an email, which I can definitely do in Skype for Business."
Can't copy/paste from Skype for Business.
When using an alternate theme like dark theme, copying messages out of Teams brings its background with it, meaning if you paste it somewhere else it has that dark gray background.
When copying something into teams, it preserves its original font color on top of the dark background, causing problems with visibility. If you are going to allow palette swapping themes, please add appropriate measures for text copied out of or into the app.
Feature request is still being worked upon.
I just started having this problem. Earlier in the week I couldn't paste into Power Point, but I thought it was due to the fact I was copying text from a pdf. Today, I can't paste into Word from Slack or from OneNote--I could copy from Slack and paste it into OneNote, but I can't paste it from there into Word. When I try I Word stops responding, I get a white screen and the spinning circle. It recovers but my doc is still blank. I have tried right clicking and selecting paste and using the keyboard short-cut.
Four months after this original post, I'm having the same issues...
Pasting is still sporadic - using OneNote v.16001.11126.20076.0
This functionally is the fundamental use of using OneNote and it's sporadic? It's regressed to a state that is frustrating. Has M'soft outsourced regression testing? If so, get rid of them!

When I use right click to copy, it fails. Highlighting the area to be copied is hit and miss. Sometimes it will hold, and sometimes it won't. I have to keep repeating and repeating the process util it finally highlights the entire area I want to copy and paste/cut. I have Windows 10, 64 bit.
Any updates on this? Still having a lot of trouble with this. It wastes too much time in my day - please get this fixed.
When copying a numbered list from Teams and pasting it somewhere else, the list pastes with bullet points rather than numbers. Will this be addressed with this fix?
Ah nice, I just got version "1.1.00.31860 (32-bit)" now. The behaviour while scrolling during text-selection has improved... Nice... Where's the 'thumbs up' button on this thing? :)
One more minor gripe, no rush for this,I can cope without for now.
1. While using numbered-lists, I sometimes use shift-enter to add line-breaks (I'm guessing it equates to '<br>' in the html?). E.g.
If I copy such text from teams, it removes the line-break and pastes it as:
1. point1-blah1 point1-blah2
Any chance of preserving the line-breaks?
Ok, after using it some more, I can see it's still a little rough around the edges. If I select multiple chat messages that require me to scroll down a lot, it seems to crop out the region I scrolled down to within the copy made. Also, sometimes with these lengthy scrolls, it somethings deselected my text before I get a chance to press CTRL+C (so I tend to press CTRL+C *before* depressing my left-mouse button to try get around this). I'm guessing this stuff is already on your radar, still thought I'd drop the observations here anyway.
I was reflecting on Alvaro's recent feedback, because I was still having trouble copy/pasting text from Teams. So I checked my version, it's "1.1.00.29068 (32-bit)", so pretty-much the same as his.
But when I pasted the text into other apps, it was still looking cruddy.
But then I noticed that he said he copied from teams, and pasted back into teams.
So I gave that a try, and it worked reasonably well (better than I expected)... And then, surprisingly, I tried copying from Teams and pasting into my other apps once more, and it worked better that time too.
Not sure what caused Teams to flip its pasting behaviour. I tried restarting teams, to see if it'd revert back to its cruddy pasting behaviour, but no, it didn't, it pasted nicer from the get-go <shrug>.
Today I tested to copy and now it works great, I can select several messages and copy them at once.
And at pasting inside Teams it is quoting the messages (another request apart)
Ah, my version is 1.1.00.29068 (64 bit) Windows client

Found this thread somehow. Feature request? Okay, here is the deal, your CULTURE at microsoft is to literally not have the ability to program anything to do with clipboard. Pay someone else, like canonical licensing (don't pass the buck to the consumer, you made this mess) to make something that takes any infant a day to code. Selecting text on ANY microsoft product can make it "hey i forgot whether or not you were holding left mouse down" so why don't we just take another function, that is capable of destroying every input field on your screen, let him deal with it. And that is how you get an entire goddmn web page pasted while trying to highlight a URL.

I think I add an extra hour a day to my workload messing around with cut and paste - it won't do it until after three or four times. Come on Microsoft. This is basic stuff. Sort it out. Or we are all going to Google or Mac.

why am I unable to copy paste with my mouse into the phone number line in skype for business. I have to copy with my mouse as normal for a phone number from another source and then use ctrl v to actually paste it into the text box in skype. Very frustrating.
The new product is HORRIBLE and extremely frustrating to work with . What moron thought this worked well?
In Word 2018 for Mac, when I try to paste in the area where I clicked it doesn't work. It just pastes in the area where I copied.
trying to copy and paste from a word document to another word document just a few lines of text from a google search, on a right click and paste the cursor jumps back up the page to insert it at the end of the last copy and paste item. Its really odd?
I have to use Ctri and V to get it to paste where I want it to. might seem minor but its annoying. Another colleague has similar issue where he can't right click at all.
Frankly, Windows 10 is the biggest pile of S*** that has ever been foisted on us helpless consumers. I hate it with a passion. Cutting and pasting anything is hit and miss. Sometimes you can do it, sometimes you can't. There appears to be no rhyme or reason.
Same for pasting phone number a very useful and frequently used function is so temperamental its about useless. If the phone number is associated with a skype account it refuses to budge and you are forced to enter the phone number using the foolish dial pad and mouse....Old skype could pick a phone number out of a mess and resolve it. Very big step backward.
I've found that the only way to copy from Teams successfully is to click and hold down the left mouse button to select the text I want (including multiple messages) and then press ctrl-C before letting go of the mouse button.
This works in that you can paste multiple lines of text into other applications but what it ends up copying isn't exactly awesome. You will get multiple copies of messages across multiple lines.
We really need an intelligent implementation of copy and paste in and out of MS Teams. What exists now is an absolute shambles!
Same issue. Annoying.
