Copy & Paste is tempermental
Users reporting multiple copy/paste issues for text:
Can't paste multi-messages. Often, only the first line pastes, the rest disappear. As one user puts it: "On the Windows 10 desktop client it is nearly impossible to copy multiple messages from the chat history. A fraction of a second after letting go of the mouse, the highlight collapses down to a single message."
Can't paste in general: "Copy & Paste is tempermental, when i try to paste text in from other sources it simply doesn't paste, but then if I only copy a few (3-6) words then it does. It means I can't do something as simple as pasting in a paragraph from an email, which I can definitely do in Skype for Business."
Can't copy/paste from Skype for Business.
When using an alternate theme like dark theme, copying messages out of Teams brings its background with it, meaning if you paste it somewhere else it has that dark gray background.
When copying something into teams, it preserves its original font color on top of the dark background, causing problems with visibility. If you are going to allow palette swapping themes, please add appropriate measures for text copied out of or into the app.
Feature request is still being worked upon.
There are a number of copy and past feedback items so I am just going to post here since this has the highest visibility.
Allow the ability to copy as plain text (remove all formatting)
When copying messages out of a channel make the default behavior to copy just the message text not the entire conversation timestamp and author.
I can't even copy anything. When I am trying to copy a text, it immediately shows … Save this message, Like this message and covers half the message. This is very bad U.I. You should not cover original message. Use space on the right instead. I can't also copy multiple lines. This is so frustrating. Even simple functions do not work on Teams!

Copying from a code block in teams adds special characters. Specials characters cause issues when trying to run the copied script
IN addition to the above; short messages or messages ending w/ content (i.e. account names for example) get covered over by the ellipsis and Thumbs up making it difficult to select the content let alone copy it to other tools.

After the latest update ( I think) I can't get rid of the text I copied after pasting it. It does not go away. The C & P won't copy again, it will still just paste the same thing, again and again. The only way is to exit word and restart.
Pasting a table from excel with grid, returns the data in a weird format. Teams is suppose to enhance the efficiency, productivity but now i have to send emails on top of emails to get the message out. If i copy from excel/word or any MS office, it should keep the same format as a source.
It seems like in the attempt to allow copying of multiple comments, copying a single comment has gotten worse. If I want to copy the entire text of a single line post (e.g. if somebody sends a filepath), copy brings the post details and likes along with it. I can't select a limited amount of text because the message options obscure the right side of the line. Is there no easy way to copy just a line of text and have nothing come with it? Appreciate the efforts to improve the experience, but this is routinely frustrating.
Copy/Paste on macOS using Command-C and command-V also doesn't work.

Why is this still a broken feature in Windows? I thought you folks were the software design gurus? Currently using Win & Pro SP1 and it seems pretty much every time I have to tell Windows to Copy twice before it will actually do so. Yes the text is highlights, yes the program is the focused program. Doesn't matter if using kb shortcuts or right click. How about not "improving" anything else until you can get this working right 99.99% of the time. Seriously, this is a lame function and I would be embarrassed to be a MS developer if this was the best I could do.
Cutting is very temperamental now. I highlight and right click cut and the entire highlight goes un-highlighted and I have to do it again, sometimes this happens 3 times before I can actually cut the paragraph.
I just started having this problem. Earlier in the week I couldn't paste into Power Point, but I thought it was due to the fact I was copying text from a pdf. Today, I can't paste into Word from Slack or from OneNote--I could copy from Slack and paste it into OneNote, but I can't paste it from there into Word. When I try I Word stops responding, I get a white screen and the spinning circle. It recovers but my doc is still blank. I have tried right clicking and selecting paste and using the keyboard short-cut.
Four months after this original post, I'm having the same issues...
Pasting is still sporadic - using OneNote v.16001.11126.20076.0
This functionally is the fundamental use of using OneNote and it's sporadic? It's regressed to a state that is frustrating. Has M'soft outsourced regression testing? If so, get rid of them!

When I use right click to copy, it fails. Highlighting the area to be copied is hit and miss. Sometimes it will hold, and sometimes it won't. I have to keep repeating and repeating the process util it finally highlights the entire area I want to copy and paste/cut. I have Windows 10, 64 bit.
Any updates on this? Still having a lot of trouble with this. It wastes too much time in my day - please get this fixed.
When copying a numbered list from Teams and pasting it somewhere else, the list pastes with bullet points rather than numbers. Will this be addressed with this fix?
Ah nice, I just got version "1.1.00.31860 (32-bit)" now. The behaviour while scrolling during text-selection has improved... Nice... Where's the 'thumbs up' button on this thing? :)
One more minor gripe, no rush for this,I can cope without for now.
1. While using numbered-lists, I sometimes use shift-enter to add line-breaks (I'm guessing it equates to '<br>' in the html?). E.g.
If I copy such text from teams, it removes the line-break and pastes it as:
1. point1-blah1 point1-blah2
Any chance of preserving the line-breaks?
Ok, after using it some more, I can see it's still a little rough around the edges. If I select multiple chat messages that require me to scroll down a lot, it seems to crop out the region I scrolled down to within the copy made. Also, sometimes with these lengthy scrolls, it somethings deselected my text before I get a chance to press CTRL+C (so I tend to press CTRL+C *before* depressing my left-mouse button to try get around this). I'm guessing this stuff is already on your radar, still thought I'd drop the observations here anyway.
I was reflecting on Alvaro's recent feedback, because I was still having trouble copy/pasting text from Teams. So I checked my version, it's "1.1.00.29068 (32-bit)", so pretty-much the same as his.
But when I pasted the text into other apps, it was still looking cruddy.
But then I noticed that he said he copied from teams, and pasted back into teams.
So I gave that a try, and it worked reasonably well (better than I expected)... And then, surprisingly, I tried copying from Teams and pasting into my other apps once more, and it worked better that time too.
Not sure what caused Teams to flip its pasting behaviour. I tried restarting teams, to see if it'd revert back to its cruddy pasting behaviour, but no, it didn't, it pasted nicer from the get-go <shrug>.
Today I tested to copy and now it works great, I can select several messages and copy them at once.
And at pasting inside Teams it is quoting the messages (another request apart)
Ah, my version is 1.1.00.29068 (64 bit) Windows client
