Make a Contact List View
Make a Contact List View
This is absolutely necessary, the real estate it takes up on my monitor is atrocious. I regularly have several Excel Spreadsheets up at once to do my job and even with 3 monitors I can't keep my contact list up to keep track of my teams availability. Please separate the chat/meetings/screenshare from the Contact List. Also, make an actual Contact list that doesn't have to be accessed via the chat tab

Agree with other comments that Skype for Business had a condensed contact list view where you could view various groups/teams etc. While Teams has something similar under the "Calls" tab, it takes up a lot of screen "real estate" and isn't as visually friendly.

Skype for Business had a condensed Contact List that could be left open on the desktop. MS Teams is a big step backward. Teams has nothing compact to show contacts. It's a huge waste of screen real estate.

Well, it's 2019 and seems that MS listen.

I have used Hipchat/Stride and other team communication tools and they all have a simple method to see all the contacts in an organization. Teams is meant to be for business so there HAS to be a way to see all the members of an organization as a directory. I actually opened a ticket with Microsoft since I assumed this should be there and it is not.
It makes no sense that the only way to start a conversation with a new person is to start a chat and then search for them. This is a basic function of Stride, slack, and any number of other group communication utilities and not having this is a deal breaker for us. As we are also an MSP this means we cannot in good conscience recommend Teams to any of our clients either.
It seems ludicrous that all functionality improvements are pushing towards the SfB integration yet they are neglecting the primary purpose of allowing you to communicate with other members of your organization in the easiest method possible.
There is currently no Contacts List as in SFB. You can pin chats but can't keep a list of contacts. This would be a good addition.
Yeah, I give up on Teams, I'm going to Slack. Not having a list of everyone I know online is just plain annoying.
If you're going to be replacing SFB, you absolutely need to have a contact list option/view. Really helps to see peoples current availability along with not having to remember everyone's name in a large org.

It would be good to have a Contact list that behaves the same as the Contact list in Skype for Business client, i.e. showing contact information from Skype for Business Address Book, Exchange Global Address List and local Outlook Contacts folders (using contact information aggregation to aggregate information for the same user in one Contact card).
