Allow users to sort the contacts in chat, the same way you can in Skype for Business - by Groups/Teams, Status, Relationships, New - and perhaps add the Recent and Suggested as tabs there as well.

Its insane the chat is so not prioritized in teams...
Since ICQ there had been a working fine way of handling chats...
Why can I only pin 15 chats
Why cant i sort the list as i want to
Look at skype
Add contact and groupchats to a group
List groups in the order you want
List contacts in the order you want..
Right now you have to search or sit and try to fin the people you wanna chat with...
This sucks so much, and could so easily be changed
Expand a group
Add it please, we keep moving backward
Fix this please.

Sort by status please. We can do it in Skype. Not having this in Teams is a big backward step
This seems like it would be included right from the start - I'm a little shocked that it's a missing feature. Add basic sorting, please.
I was searching on how not IF I could sort contacts in Teams ... I am quite frankley flabberghasted that this is not possible on such a high profile application in 2021... !!!
Sorting by status was very helpful in SfB, and is missed by a lot of our users.

FFS! Don't tell me I have to get my organization to move to a product that can't even do what the one we have (and chose) can do! Chat/Voice/Video Conferencing should be able to be used without all of the other bloat.

Second the sorting options available in SfB, most importantly the sort by activity feature. Also allow people to drag a contact from one contact group to another- removing and readding is needlessly cumbersome. And please remember which groups I've minimized. I mean, you have all these functions previously, and you don't think people would want to keep them??
Filter contacts by status please.
Being able to sort the chat history by alphabetical or online status is a very important function. How is such a basic function not possible and a generic feature ? Creating favorite groups is not a solution..

I would also like Teams to remember which groups was minimized and expanded the next time I go to the Chat tab. Now I have to minimize the groups and scroll a lot to find contacts that I mostly use. Its a bit tiresome when you have a lot of contacts. And no, adding them to favorites doesn't help, because I loose the group affiliation then...
Teams is garbage. No one would use it if they weren't forced to. Basic features are missing after years of requests.
Or even better...allow custom groupings
I would second this feature. It's a feature we had in Skype and the problem I currently have is messaging individuals by role type, they get lost in my chat history with meetings, groups and other people
Status sorting is imparative. No movement after over 3 years?
When will we be able to sort by availability status?
As an admin assistant this is a nice feature to have as individuals roll up into specific manager/directors/VPs. Definitely declutters.
Be able to sort by last name. I don't need to see every single contact.
to be able to sort by status is one of the most important functions!
