Incorrect status in teams
We have noticed that our Teams statuses are consistently incorrect. Even when some team members are active in Teams they are shown as "away" or "offline". For example, although I can see that my status is "active", my colleagues see my status as "offline".
Can you please fix this bug?
Hi — My apologies for the delay in updating this item. We rolled out a fix a year ago for a specific issue of status changing to away in Teams when you were still active on the device. We thought this had fixed the “incorrect status” issue. From comments below, it sounds like people are still seeing issues.
If you are still having issues, it would be super helpful if you can capture logs by typing Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 1, and send the file from your downloads folder along with device info and detailed repro steps to email@example.com.

I work for a company in multiple country's, status gets stuck and we never quite know if someones there or not!
Let users decide what they're doing. In the current climate no one needs others second guessing where they are every 10 minutes.

It appears that Teams will get stuck in a certain status until the user clicks into Teams to make the application window the active one.
Also, it appears that the "Out Of Office" status gets stuck in Teams even if the period of time defined in Outlook has expired.
Hi my girlfriend last seen is showing wrong i used to check frequently but she was in a meeting but on personal chat her last was in correct
Either fix this issue now or remove the status badge altogether; remember developers - "first, do no harm"
no fix yet on this
Almost 2 years later and still no good fix for this.
You don't need anymore feedback, just remove it. Your consumers know better than you this time. The only reason why it doesn't appear to be a bigger problem than it is, is because most people aren't intelligent enough to articulate what's going wrong, even know of uservoice, nor care enough to submit an issue.
This bug has been causing quite a bit of confusion and frustration in our org, which is roughly 15k large. At the very least, give us the ability to disable it. There's nothing else to provide, or a feature there worth fixing. I'd rather to be permanently available versus permanently away, rather than the next release maybe fixing it.

Please remove the "auto-away". It causes loads of misunderstandings in our team and makes our lives harder.
yeah same for us, showing one status on the laptop and another on the iphone. Even more confusing when you select the person in the iphone app, it shows there status as one thing and then another when you go into the chat with the person. Common Microsoft, get it sorted been an issue for long enough..... its a bug and an annoying one.
Yep, a real flaw in the system.

Many users are facing this incorrect status issue in Teams in my organization. It needs to be fixed immediately.
This bug makes Teams near useless for our company. It needs to be fixed immediatly.
It's interesting that there are so many threads documenting this issue, but only one categorized it as a bug, rather than a suggestion:
1. (bug report) https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/908686-bug-reports/suggestions/41278342-teams-now-setting-my-status-to-away-after-10-min
2. (this thread, the largest and the only open thread with a MS response) https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/19544905-incorrect-status-in-teams
6. (thread closed but comments said still occurring) https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/18629083-don-t-switch-to-away-just-because-i-m-using-a-d
7 threads seems like pretty widespread issue.
our presence was working fine until we made some tweaks to Coexistence mode and now it's totally broken - like not even close. Do we know when this will be fixed?
This is still an issue for me. Sometimes I cannot post documents or images either. As I work at a tech company as an application engineer, this is pretty annoying to have to bypass. not to mention we cannot tell when the staff is available or not due to the statuses always being wrong.
My issues are only visible and consistent on the desktop app. The web app seems to work well enough but you cannot share your screen with it or use some other tools that you can with the desktop app.
Also seems to be correlated to my work from home start date, so the issue could be related to VPN, but I find it hard to believe that this many people reporting the same issue wouldn't have come to that conclusion in what I am seeing has been two years...
As far as repro steps, the issue seems to occur while logged in. So... login, go about day, notice things not working and statuses are unavailable.
I look forward to this product functioning again. I don't want to have to go to another service when this one used to work fine and has what I need.

It's the end of December 2020 and this continues to be an issue for some of our staff members, many of whom are Executive staff. Microsoft, please fix this once and for all. Thank you.
one user is getting this as well in my company

December 2020. I can't believe after a year of remote work and a pandemic this is still a thing.
We need this sh** to work!!!
Mine shows me as away no matter what I do: reboot, manually changing from one status to another and waiting, trying on mobile and PC.
Finally without doing nothing and after some time it just fixed. You've got problems with your servers,
I sent the capture logs to the specified email several months ago. Never heard back. Microsoft has become such a lousy company coming out with underrated products that cause nothing but headache
yes we are still seeing the same issue, i can be chatting to a person in Teams whose status says away for example...desktop version in Teams is 1.3.00.30866
