How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

Incorrect status in teams

We have noticed that our Teams statuses are consistently incorrect. Even when some team members are active in Teams they are shown as "away" or "offline". For example, although I can see that my status is "active", my colleagues see my status as "offline".

Can you please fix this bug?

    Hi — My apologies for the delay in updating this item. We rolled out a fix a year ago for a specific issue of status changing to away in Teams when you were still active on the device. We thought this had fixed the “incorrect status” issue. From comments below, it sounds like people are still seeing issues.

    If you are still having issues, it would be super helpful if you can capture logs by typing Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 1, and send the file from your downloads folder along with device info and detailed repro steps to teamsml@microsoft.com.

        For a long time now I noticed a difference between Skype and Teams Status (Skype's one was always correct) but starting from yesterday I see all my Teams contacts in blank (status unknown) and they see me as blank also. Even better...

        In S4B status changed automatically after a few minutes. Actually I miss this in Teams as well as network defined location.

        This happens all the time. S4B updates immediately while Teams shows me as away and doesn't update for several minutes. Pain in the neck for users in multiple locations - but I guess that doesn't matter since live location updates from S4B don't work in Teams yet either.

        I use S4B as well as Teams. My Skype status updates automatically but my Teams status seems to default to Busy unless I change it.

        This is quite frustrating. As we are trying to push adoption of Teams and move to Team for our telephone communications, issues with basic functions like presence make it difficult to make the case for using the new tools.

        Please make sure to add back an "invisible" status that is truly invisible, such that my presence is unknown even if other people tag me, and cannot see when I login or logout.

        I'd like to be able to use IM, but only on my own terms for information, instead of having people use IM to track my whereabouts like crazed stalkers.

        Oh for goodness sake - how much longer is this nonsense going to carry on - the app is totally unfit for purpose without this working. Seriously regret having migrated from Skype for Business - how can we go back?

        We are in islands mode but anyone using Teams does not get updated status information. I am constantly chatting with team members who are showing "away" or "offline". This is basic functionality that should be fixed, but it appears that it takes over a year to fix a core issue like this.

        Teams migration is on hold due to issues like this.

        Guys really, how can it not be done by now? The problem is over year old now and it's a basic function for most of communicators. Really it's a shame...

        Any update on this, we also have halted our conversion to Teams chatting due to this.

        We began Teams upgrade pilot and & had to open a PSS case on this. Was told that something changed on the back end ~month ago because cross-platform routing of IMs/Presence wasn't working. That caused some problems of its own. Changes are being pushed out, but it depends on your tenant ring, your version of Office, and slight breezes.

        Some presence notes from the CritSit engineer for an org in SFBOnly with some users in TeamsOnly:

        1. A SFBOnly user's presence change can take up to 4 mins to be reflected in a TeamsOnly user's Teams client.

        2. A TeamsOnly user's presence update is updated on a SFBOnly users SFB Client <5 seconds.

        3. From TeamsOnly, a SFBOnly User's 'true' presence status can only be initiating a new chat.

        NOTE: current as of yesterday. This are STILL very inconsistent, though.... HTH
