Export chat history
Skype keeps chat history in Outlook which makes it convenient if chat needs to be shared and forwarded to someone else. Can a Teams private chat be shared similarly, such as via an export to PDF?

As Skype can do it I would expected Teams to have that possibility.
Trying to move from mail to chat but then this would be a requirement as already mentioned this information also belongs to project history/data.
You can argue that the possibility to export chat history of the teams chat group is already available by the admins but it should be a setting on company level to allow/disallow on user level.
Is a requirement for moving from Skype for Business to Teams.
People use this to brainstorm about processes and business requirments and need the export afterwards to be sure nothing was missed.
Same archiving function as Skype please! Thank you.

Please add this feature, extremely important as in SKYPE this would a great addition. Conversation history is key and very important.. Please include conversation history please
Copy and Paste as HTML text (not hyperlinks) would be great.
We are creating chat groups as „virtual project/request room“. After the projects/request is closed we want to export the Chat history to kept it together with the other project or request documentation. From legal perspective we need to keep business relevant communication. Because chat is replacing Email more and more we need the possibility to export chat history of the teams chat group. I am aware that this is possible as admin. But this way might cause a lot of tickets in a big company like mine.

We often get long chats when resolving incidents, and looking at a long chat history is tedious. We'd like to pull the chat history out to condense/summarise in a document. It's very hard to do this in Teams at the moment, due to slow loading of history and no find capability, as well as no copy/paste of multiple messages
I think it is not going to happen. Corporate point of view: data generated in corporate environment is corporate. Must not be possible to export by users, only by administrators.
Bottom line to compete with Slack and Asana, MS Teams needs chat history export! Law firms need this, Insurance industry needs this, medical industry needs this, WE ALL NEED THIS!
Is this still not possible?? It's been 2 years!! To have to forward each individual conversation thread is tedious!!
same archiving function as Skype please!
Can functionality be created in order to export to microsoft excel and view chat history (date field;time field; user name field; chat detail/message field) based on a date range entered.
I previously used a 3rd part app to extract the data from Skype in order to do this. I believe this would add great value if this was standard functionality.
Yes - chat history should be saved where a user can retrieve it - both for private chats and for Teams Channels chats.
It can be Outlook inbox (all the Teams channels starting a conversation back-up also in outlook) or in Sharepoint (for Teams that have got associated Sharepoint storage) - without a back-up for users, the content in a Teams chat is not felt very "official"

I recommend to add a Graphics Mode feature to Excel. This would enable user to properly draw charts and figures with accurate dimensions and design. This should not be a CAD-like sophistication, yet a bit more advanced than the currently available on PowerPoint.
I want to see the chat logs in a useable format and as objects, not a PST or EML. I would like to see this added in the MicrosoftTeams powershell module

a full chat history should be obligatory for a powerful tool like Teams!
Yes please! This feature would allow us to search Teams chats in Outlook, they way we can for Skype chats and eliminates the need to search in both Outlook (desirable because it's fast) and also in Teams (very, very slow). Thanks!
Indeed a very desirable feature. Especially after multiple-day sessions the amount of information in a chat can be enormous. At the same time it also takes long to browse through a chat. In that case it is very desirable to be able to download the chat. To a txt or a OneNote. With attachments added in the chat of course.

Can't agree more. Tried it for a day and not having that moved me back to the Skype for Business Client. For us this could mean never leaving Skype for Business because of this.
