We should be able to control the folder used for files that are attached to team chat
When a user attaches files (images, etc) to a message in a team channel, the attachments get stored in the associated sharepoint site in the root folder of the channel.
We would prefer if these could be stored into an 'team message attachments' sub-folder (or similar).

MINIMUM - attach files to a specific folder within the channel files.
BEST - select destination folder at time of making attachment.
Also there is a bug when you manually overcome this file management sin. See attached file for documentation of this.
We have some channels that have the same name as the folder they should use. Like the "Project X" channel would also be the folder we store files for Project X.
Everything is nice and tidy except for the random collections of attachments uploaded in the channel that are stored at the top level. I want to be able to choose the subfolder (like "attachments" or something) so its not a mess.
Otherwise I need to pick different channel names and different project folder names on Sharepoint, which would make TWO top level folders called Project X Chat and Project X Files. Thats silly.

As a justification, I can say that sometimes channels gets created with improper names and need to be renamed, so is the folder under it. Unfortunately, most of the time, people have already an email address to forward emails to channels and conversations have started in the channel, including attached files.
Currently, we can't change the default storage folder and renders our Sharepoint repository non-compliant with our naming conventions.
We end up creating new channels, copying everything from the previous channel, but the conversations remain in the previous channel, and therefore, we can't remove the old channel.
This is causing serious problems in our organization since a consultant has recommended to use Teams as a document management system instead of focusing on its collaboration features.

In addition of a default "root" folder for Teams channel sub-folders, we should also be able to select which folder should be used for attachements on a per channel basis.
I agree, there should be an option to specify which folder to save the attachment.

I'd like to extend this request so we can decide to which folder email attachments should go and the naming convention. I know I could create a flow to perform such manipulations but it would be more efficient to have it embedded as part of email processing.
Also to be able to decide wether or not we want to keep the original email would be helpful too.
Would like to expand this request to also handle attachments from Team > Channel > Conversations. A root channel folder called "Conversation Attachments" would work!
