Currently, when adding excel tabs to a team, some of the formatting is different to that in the spreadsheet when opened in Excel. A good example is where we have dates in a spreadsheet with format dd/mm/yyyy, in the tab it has changed the format to mm/dd/yyyy. It would be good if the formatting remains the same when viewed in Teams.
The system is actually not putting dates. Despite the fact that the column is formatted as date : dd/mm/yyyy the excel starts storing it as text when the dates are entered in teams excel file.

The Teams date format is set by changing your locale. That's a reasonable default, but I'm an English (UK) user who wants dates to appear in ISO-8601 format. There is no way to do that as far as I can see.
Agree It is confusing. I spent an unnecessary amount of time checking the format of the source spreadsheet only to realise it was how Teams had chosen to display. I know have to spend unnecessary amount of time advising colleagues the sheet is not wrong its the Teams view (which I cannot change) and if they open in Excel it will be ok.

Still having this issue. This is terrible.
agree its confusing and unnecessary
Whenever we change dates it reverts to Armenian, US English or Chinese Cyrillic. We have had to spend a significant amount of time going through emails to work out when something was added to the sheet, completely defeating the object of having it in place in the first place
Teams is set to English/Australia and date formats in excel are being forced to English/US. Makes excel in Teams unreliable as in many cases we are unable to determine the correct date without referring outside of Teams.
