Don't hide channels in the "More channels" dropdown when there is space to display them
If there's only one more channel, it doesn't make sense to hide it behind a "More channels dropdown", you're not saving any space. I've noticed this with a few things in Teams, if there is room to display all of the channels vertically, or very few extra channels, it's bad UX to hide them behind a link.
Thank you for your continued feedback. The feature team is reviewing this request. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
I miss many channels in our organization, because they are default hidden.

I have found that editing if a Team or Channel is hidden, is possible on my iPad app. I can't seem to make those same edits on the desktop app, but the changes I make on my iPad carry over to the desktop version and work as I want. I like to not have any channels hiding otherwise the Team name doesn't bold and I miss notifications.

Please stop hiding channels. It's REALLY annoying. SHOW them by default, hidden by choice.
Come on, MS.
This can be fixed.
Under "Your teams" > Click on the "..." next to the team name you want to change > click "Manage Team" > select "Channels" tab > select the check boxes next to all the channels you want either your team or you to see.
This is an issue for us - people don't receive notifications for the hidden channels, and there's no way to hide older channels in favour of newer ones, for various annual initiatives. Please address it!
*really*? It's a productivity *killer*?
I am also experiencing this. The "Show more" concept that is showing up everywhere in web design is ridiculous in general. This is a productivity killer indeed.
New channel automaticaly being hidden, that is really a bad experience to have.

This is extremely irritating for me as well. Anti-productivity if you ask me.
1) instead of saying "1 hidden channel", just show me the channel.
2) there is actually a way to perma show the channel, that is the click directly on the "Show" label that appears when you hover. This feature is anti-intuitive and should be changed to a toggle slider switch.
Being a software developer, I know how rough this was implemented.
A tiny bit of 'think as an user' would prevent this issue.
I have heaps of free space underneath my teams, so why is it hiding channels when there is no need?
Where is the option to turn this off?
Worst of all like others have said, why is it hiding a single channel behind a more 'more chanels' which literally takes the same amount of space as just showing the channel!
How is this still an issue 3 years after being reported?

Any plans to fix this?

Gods yes, please make it possible to PERMANENTLY disable the hidden channels feature. It's a horrible waste of time.
Having all teams in favourite doesn't make any sense.
Jesus wept, another example of MS doing some crazy shiz with their "Pound Shop Slack". I'm with Geoff on this! Hiding stuff should be for the user to decide. I keep having to manually rectify this. Very annoying. Just kill the feature please.
Why does Microsoft think it knows which teams wwe want to see? Automation that we didn't ask for is quite rude to be blunt. If I want it hidden, I will hide it myself thank you.
Yep, another person here who's found this conversation after becoming frustrated with Teams. I don't want to have to Favourite every channel just to get a sensible use of display space. That sort of workaround just shows that this is broken.

also, please allow us to *disable* hiding channels (i dont want channels hidden)
primarily, i would like to see channels that has unread messages without having to click 20 times to see all of them. i have so much real estate on my screen but it doesnt make sense to me why Teams is trying to hide half my channels and make me click everytime i want to find a channel. i do not enjoy clicking if i dont have to.

Please consider allowing people to go "into a team" so that we can have a full experience within the team, all channels, all direct messages etc.
There are a lot of clicks to get around.
Greg MacLellan commented
The "Favorite" workaround is okay, but Favorite also causes you to get @channel notifications, which may not be desired, even though you might want to use the channel a lot. Consider: a channel used by support to ask questions of development. Support would want to use the channel frequently, but not necessarily get notifications.
That aside, collapsing one item into a submenu of "one more item" is kind of wasteful. Example, with two channels and the second not marked as favorite:

I was about to complain about this, too, but then I saw Simon Lieschke's comment. If you flag a channel as a favorite it will always show up in the sidebar, but others you might visit less frequently will be hidden. This is actually a great feature once you know how it works.
Perhaps the UI could make this clearer? Maybe the favorited channels show with a star next to them and the rest are under something like "4 more non-favorited channels", or a message in the tool tip that says "Flag your favorites to pin them to the sidebar".
It's silly to have users abandon your product over a bit of sloppy, opaque UI.
