Provide option for storing version history for Team files
SharePoint can store file version history. Since Team files are stored in SharePoint, please surface the version history within Teams.

This request has been approved and has now moved to the backlog!
Stay tuned for further updates.

This is a much needed feature, I get this question from clients all the time, especially during MS Teams demonstrations.

I'll be honest, I love the new Files tab now it surfaces most of the functionality from SharePoint (which I only received yesterday). However, it's missing the options to view a document's version history or Publish as a major version. This means our users will still have to 'Open in SharePoint' to properly manage their files which is a massive shame. I don't understand why all other SharePoint functionality has been brought into Teams but not these. Please could you get these included ASAP.

It would also be nice to be able to add short comments to a version.

To expand on this suggestion, please provide the ability to choose which SP metadata fields are displayed in the Teams Apps. (maybe something like we do when selecting fields for display in a SP View)

We do understand that versions are tracked, its just not showing in the UI of the files tab in Teams, please add to the menu for files.
