Rename General channel
Make it so we can change the name of the General Channel.
As part of our commitment to being customer driven, we’d love your input on top features that will improve your satisfaction with teams and channels navigation, and help you be more productive in Teams. Thanks for your feedback!
This would be great as "General" is a terrible thing to have in any system. It's subjective and becomes a dumping ground for people that is quickly unusable. Just renaming it would be perfect as you need at least one channel.
I agree wholeheartedly with these comments to allow General channel to be deleted/renamed, and also to allow default “files” tab to be renamed/removed within a channel. It is almost as if MS is forcing their own immature ideaology of what they think an ideal UI needs to look like on the world, and then is completely tone deaf to the world shouting back that they don’t like it! And then having the audacity to claim they have a “commitment to being customer driven”. Bottom line: trust=broken
I just need to change the description.
It was my first channel creation before I understood how Teams worked or what a channel really was. It certainly wasn't obvious that the description would not be editable so I gave it a silly description I planned to changed after consulting with the other channel members.
The silly description is embarrassing. Probably similar to how you are feeling with ridiculous architectural design of your system that is prohibiting you from allowing renaming the General channel.
I support the idea to edit the General channel. Most users find it unnecessary.
Ability to rename or hide would be ideal

Especially for public Teams/Channels in the organization. General channel is creating huge confusion to members and guests.

Almost loved teams... but then this. We get that this is "low priority" compared to all kinds of fancy features you want to roll out, but these QOL changes are what make users stay or in this case, since you're not listening, leave.

Can't Rename, Can't edit it, Can't hide it, Can't delete it, Can barely manage it.
In Teams, "conversation" should be separable from the frame.
General ergonomics of Teams is very ****** : you have to quit the current task to answer someone in conversation or to take anything else (left bar)
The context (channel, members of the conversation) should be reminded in the conversation bubble to avoid the risk....of being fired (wrong recipient)
Allow General to be cleared, deleted or renamed. Allow descriptions of teams and channels to be displayed when a team or channel is entered.

This is needed to truly compete with Slack. When I pin every channel is called "General" Please ensure this gets fixed.

YES - please make it editable asap.
Been a year since Microsoft has commented on this. Please post an update. Re-naming the General Tab is needed by literally thousands, especially since it can't be deleted. More times than not the General tab causes confusion among users as to it's purpose. Renaming it would give it a purpose.
General channel should be editable/able to delete it.
Also a bit more flexiblity in moving channels into different teams would be great. For example if I would like to move a particular channel into another team or from a sub team in to the wider team that shold be possible.
If it could be hidden would also be great if possible.
Amazing that MS asks for feedback ("As part of our commitment to being customer driven, we’d love your input on top features that will improve your satisfaction with teams and channels navigation...") and 3000+ people give very clear feedback about this and yet for 3 years nothing has been done about it.
We just switched to Teams recently from Slack because someone suggested it but stuff like this (and other small but important UI details) is seriously making me reconsider getting everyone to go back to Slack. This exact story (and lack of any serious response from the MS product team) is a great example of the misplaced mindset for MS and what Slack gets perfect.

Please work on this! The 'General' channel causes so much confusion!
