Improve audio notifications
VOLUME: The sound is too low!! Most people don't think it's even on. Let us customize the sound level, please.
UNIQUE SOUNDS FOR CALLS VS CHATS/MESSAGES: Right now sounds are all or nothing. This is not good. For example, you may want to have sound for Calls but not for chat or messages. There is a difference when you need to hear that someone is calling you – versus getting the constant bing/bing/bing on message chat.
UNIQUE SOUND FOR PRIVATE CHAT: It would be nice to have different sounds for private chat and notifications, so that its easy to know what's coming in without having to look at it.
The team has updated the default sound for Teams notifications so it is more noticeable. We are in final testing, with a goal to release the new sound by the end of this quarter.

We need to be able to turn off audio notifcations for things like chat.
(It's the difference between being able to use teams or having to use another one. It's that important.)
Please update the options to allow switching between the new and old sound, and provide a third option probably.
I prefer the old sound over this as I used headphones.
Baner to triger sound notification ? - This is the stupidest ever feature MS implemented.
How the heck I can disable banner without disable sound notification for messages !?
What does one have to do with the other?
MS make everithing possible to annoy greater ammount of people - successfuly!
This new approach is far worse, i had to turn off sound altogether which is a new problem since we use teams for our phones
The new sound has forced me to mute notifications from Teams entirely. Either revert it or give us an option to customize the sound.
Also, how did it take you guys THREE YEARS to misinterpret the original request into "arbitrarily change the default notification noise"?? The original request clearly states the desire for customization at EVERY STEP (of both volume and sound), yet there is no customization AT ALL in what you've done.

Please revert the sound or provide more options for sound notifications. I don't want to hear every message, only calls.
The new sound is AWFUL AND JARRING
GIVE US THE OPTION TO CUSTOMIZE THE SOUND TO WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR
Why can't we do custom sounds? That little boink sound is the same little boink sound for everything else and on every other computer. So when I have several computers in my area all making those little boink sounds and I have my back to my computer because I am working on something else I miss messages. In Skype for business I had a sound that let me know that I had a message, I knew it was on my PC, and it was loud enough for me to hear even if my back was turned and I was busy with another computer.
Paul Stejskal commented
That is probably the only way for them to see it. It is infuriatingly annoying and is easier to miss notifications now.
The new notification sound is VERY annoying. I've muted the app completely until you let us change the sound back to what it was before or something else.
GOOD GOD PLEASE LET ME GO BACK TO THE OLD SOUNDS!
Your updated sound is TERRIBLE. It is SO distracting. You're wayyyy off the mark here.
Add to this that the notification system doesn't use the Mac OS notifications APIs (not sure why, it doesn't do anything special) and it doesn't respect "do not disturb", I hear constant "bloop!" "bloop!" when I'm on a phone call with people. No joke, I literally had to put my entire computer on mute during phone calls multiple times in the last week because unrelated notifications were so loud.
Also, just because someone messaged me DOESNT mean I need to hear it or switch my attention to it right away. Thats what the alert badge is for. I don't want to interrupt my work just because I got a message. This is FAR too distracting.
My solution is going to end up being mute all notifications all the time because you dont have any granular settings here. Such a shame.
You're trying to create one product for EVERY type of business and work environment. You're not going to get there with a one size fits all solution. Offer options please.

Agree. Teams Notification sound for IM is NOT loud or noticeable even on 100%.
Notification sounds should be customizable in Control Panel, like Skype for Business sounds were.
Alana DeAngelis commented
Agreed with prior comments that the mark was missed on this one.
The request was to have more granular control over sound.... not a 100%, 90%, and 0% option. I have muted all sounds, which has caused me to miss calls.

Update after a full workday with this unwanted downgrade in functionality: the only way to not have the intrusive new IM sound is to turn off all notification sounds. This increases the chance of not noticing an inbound IM, which is already a challenge with Teams since there's no persistent task bar alert (a la Skype.) Even with the sound turned on, it is an unfamiliar notification and more likely to be ignored or missed. If Microsoft assumed users didn't use or want control over one of the auditory alerts they are likely to use many times each day, they were wrong.
I am researching other options for business communications. There are too many choices to put up with poorly implemented product changes like this.

Alex, this is not the direction the original requester was asking for.. He asked for the choice! Now you have a bunch of unhappy people because you forced something that technically wasn't requested on everyone. Classic Microsoft - not truly listening to their customer base. It will backfire one day...

Please revert commits back to old sound. The new sound is completely distracting. Or - make it so we can customize the sound. Thanks.
Paul Stejskal commented
The new notification sound is louder, but more annoying. Please allow more customizable sounds for notifications.

Please give us more control on the notification sound. The previous was great, but the new one is too agressive.

Absolutely unacceptable, Removing usability such as the ability to choose system/application sounds is a major backward move. I immediately noticed the change and it is unpleasant.
Kent Johnson commented
To my ears, the new ding is out of control. While I understand some folks might want a more prominent tone, please let us have a choice of the shrill ding or the regular "bloop."
