Improve audio notifications
VOLUME: The sound is too low!! Most people don't think it's even on. Let us customize the sound level, please.
UNIQUE SOUNDS FOR CALLS VS CHATS/MESSAGES: Right now sounds are all or nothing. This is not good. For example, you may want to have sound for Calls but not for chat or messages. There is a difference when you need to hear that someone is calling you – versus getting the constant bing/bing/bing on message chat.
UNIQUE SOUND FOR PRIVATE CHAT: It would be nice to have different sounds for private chat and notifications, so that its easy to know what's coming in without having to look at it.

The team has updated the default sound for Teams notifications so it is more noticeable. We are in final testing, with a goal to release the new sound by the end of this quarter.

I agree with the comments below. I am hard of hearing and even at maximum PC volume I can barley hear teams. It is not usable. We are also using Jabber which I can hear at just 30% of the PC volume.

My company is new to teams meetings but we have this issue also where people dial in and teams doesn't disconnect the sound on their PC/Laptop so there is a horrible echo and the only way to stop it is to ask the person(s) to fully mute their PC Sound. There needs to be a better way to note which audio option is in use per person.
Alternately a 'mute all' option that includes PC Speakers if users are in the same room together.

This needs to move up in the priority list. There are companies who are having difficulty getting employees to use teams because they don't hear their notifications.

Same complaint here, we are being forced to switch from jabber to teams and I constantly miss chats. Can barely hear the ping, very dissapointing.

Ugh, we're being forced to Teams from Skype for Business and not having this is annoying. I don't know of a single chat app like this that doesn't have the customization of sounds as these sounds are so ignorable.

Agree 100% - switched from Skype and can't hear new chats - VERY necessary!!!

I work on 2 different computers and I have never hear a sound notifying me I have a chat message even though it is on in settings. Other coworkers say they only heard a sound of Teams is in the background. If teams is up, they don’t get one either. This needs to be changed.

It would be nice to hear the sounds when someone sends you a message but not see the banners. I use 3 screens. The one screen that my teams is on I can't see what I am typing because of all of the banners. However, I am needing the sounds.

Seriously, how much time does it take to review this issue? You can see from all the comments and threads that this is a problem.

Notification sounds cannot be set up in current app, can microsoft improve the customised or normal alert tones for teams so that we can hear a pop up sound when we receive a message in teams.
How can your team forgotten this issue.

Get the popup sound when we get the Ping and highlight the color for new or unread pings

Microsoft - please fix this issue - starting to use Teams but reverting back to Cisco Jabber as I don't know when I receive a chat.

under review for over a year...it's amazing that something so simple and obvious could take a year to think about as a company.
users should be able to add specific sounds to indicate when they receive a mention or a direct message or when a specific user makes a comment these things are all easily trackable...think about it like a cell phone. I can change sounds for messages calls or specific users.
taking over a year for such a simple and in demand feature just makes you look lazy and uninterested in the features your clients need to use your software efficiently.

Sender Behavior:
(1) Sender types a message
(2) Optional dialog appears to choose one of the following:
(a) High Urgency (Do it now, next couple of minutes!)
(b) Urgent (Do it within the next hour)
(c) Important (Attempt to finish by today)
(d) No Urgency (Attempt to finish at convenience)
(3) Send finishes message and delivers to ReceiverReceiver Behavior:
(1) Message is received
(2) Based on type of message urgency, produce sound as follows:
(a) If High Urgency, produce higher pitch tone (> 2 kHz & < 3 kHz) at fast rate (4 tones / sec) at 10 s repetition rate
(b) If Urgent, produce medium pitch tone (~ 1 kHz) at medium rate (2 tones / sec) at 20 s repetition rate
(c) If Important, produce lower pitch tone (~ 500 Hz) at a low rate (1 tone / sec) at 30 s repetition rate
(d) If no urgency, do not produce a tone (user can check based on his/her availability/attention) -

We´ve just rolled out 100 iPods in a production environment and the ringtone can´t be heard at all. Teams really needs the possibility to change the ringtone and adjust the volume of it.

Deploying as a POC, and the notification sound is terrible. Too brief, too low, not enough options. C'mon, Microsoft, this should be a very easy fix.

Yes, please make adjustments so the sound can be hear more audibly. Rely on sounds to provide quick responses when multi-tasking.
