Improve audio notifications
VOLUME: The sound is too low!! Most people don't think it's even on. Let us customize the sound level, please.
UNIQUE SOUNDS FOR CALLS VS CHATS/MESSAGES: Right now sounds are all or nothing. This is not good. For example, you may want to have sound for Calls but not for chat or messages. There is a difference when you need to hear that someone is calling you – versus getting the constant bing/bing/bing on message chat.
UNIQUE SOUND FOR PRIVATE CHAT: It would be nice to have different sounds for private chat and notifications, so that its easy to know what's coming in without having to look at it.
The team has updated the default sound for Teams notifications so it is more noticeable. We are in final testing, with a goal to release the new sound by the end of this quarter.
I am getting these as well. Very frustrating.

I have my notifications sounds off but am getting sounds for every alert and even getting sounds when there isn't an alert.
Agree with all other comments. Wanted to switch from Slack but with the current state of the notifications (lack of sound, lack of tone changes to differentiate users) it's just not usable for our company at this juncture.

In addition - on commercial skype you could actually set sound notification channel or chat by channel or chat. Some things you want the bing - others it is just an irritant.

While using the browser-based app today I noticed that the Notification Settings window has a setting for "Sound", however changes to this seem to have no effect on whether I receive sounds or not. So I assume that not receiving sound is a bug.
I am on Linux, a Debian-based distribution. But I doubt that should have much of an effect. The important part is maybe that I am on Google Chrome perhaps.
$ google-chrome --version
Google Chrome 56.0.2924.87
$ uname -a
Linux alipaz 4.9.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.13-1~bpo8+1 (2017-02-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ lsb_release -a
Distributor ID: BunsenLabs
Description: BunsenLabs GNU/Linux 8.7 (Hydrogen)
Several times a week I'll want to send a team member a message only to see that I've been logged off (and I have no idea why).
This means that my teammates cannot reach me until I happen to notice that I'm not longer logged in. As we're all in different locations this does present a big problem.
When a certain other Microsoft application shuts down, you get that distinctive sound which would surely alert me that I was no longer connected if Teams could facilitate something similar.

The browser-based application does not play any notification sounds. I am getting desktop notifications in Google Chrome, just no sounds. I am not sure, but I think I had to explicitly enable desktop notifications from my Google Chrome settings and no pop-up ever asked me about it. None of the other permissions seem to make teams play a sound however.
It would be helpful to be able to have more control over audible alerts on the desktop client. I would like to set specific sounds and volume so it does a better job of alerting me about messages and updates.

Seriously, there's a notification for just them reading it? Me and my coworkers were wondering for the longest time what the random notification sounds were occassionally. There aren't any indicators for "unread" messages so there's no visual indicator for it being "read" either leaving us completely in the dark on what was going on.
How did you figure this out?!
Yes, this needs to be fixed ASAP. It's really confusing.

Add notifications on mobile app like the one for chat. I'm missing alot of messages because there is no notifications.

Ability to turn off Chat send sounds
There are notification sounds when sending, receiving, other party reads, and other party beings typing. This, to me, is too many alerts. The sound on other party reading the message is especially annoying, as it prompts me to check my chat for new messages.
Ideally, notifications for each of these events should be configurable in settings. If that isn't possible, please at least remove the notification sound when other party reads the message - as there is not even a visual notification of this event.

Would like to hear a sound when someone sends a chat message. This is very useful for me when I have alot of windows open. Also nice to pick a sound or load a sound to be unique for chat messages.

Hi Thanks for adding the ability to follow a group, the only problem I can now see is with the notifications on the mobile app. When someone posts in the group i receive a notification but it only shows the last message that person added. It would be much better if the notification just took to the group to continue the conversation.
Could this be changed please.

As everyone said, notifications should be louder. Also, I would like to choose my own notification or at least give me a few choices.
