Improve audio notifications
VOLUME: The sound is too low!! Most people don't think it's even on. Let us customize the sound level, please.
UNIQUE SOUNDS FOR CALLS VS CHATS/MESSAGES: Right now sounds are all or nothing. This is not good. For example, you may want to have sound for Calls but not for chat or messages. There is a difference when you need to hear that someone is calling you – versus getting the constant bing/bing/bing on message chat.
UNIQUE SOUND FOR PRIVATE CHAT: It would be nice to have different sounds for private chat and notifications, so that its easy to know what's coming in without having to look at it.
The team has updated the default sound for Teams notifications so it is more noticeable. We are in final testing, with a goal to release the new sound by the end of this quarter.
Request: I'd like at least 3 customization options for notification sounds.
Reply: We made the default sound different. MARKED AS FIXED.
Great job, guys.
FIX SOUNDS!!! seriously, what is so freaking hard about giving us the option to assign whatever sounds we want to whatever notifications we want. I mean we had the option in Windows 95, why can we have the options in Teams in 2020. You've back pedaled in 25 years.
The new chat message sound is making me go crazy. PLEASE give some options quickly. With everyone working from home now it's like death by a thousand 'pings.'
There is one thing about the banners that is just incredibly distracting - I would love if Microsoft teams could recognize that I am currently looking at the chat that I am getting banners for. If I specifically have a chat open, I don't need a visual queue that I have received a message, as I have that particular window open.
A sound is fine, but to have a banner pop up with every new line that is typed when I am looking at the same chat Teams is sending me notifications for is a bit unnecessary.

Notification sounds not working. First time client install. Zoom notification sounds work perfectly.
I think the public would prefer an options to select their own default sound from a preset list, as well as an option to control the volume.

It would be great to have an option to customize notification sounds, even if from a preset list. My wife and I are sharing a home office for the time being, and we both use Teams. When a notification goes off, we're both checking to see who it is.
Having the ability to distinguish between her notifications and mine when I'm not sitting in front of my computer would help a lot.
I can't hear ANY sound and neither can co workers. How do we make sure the sound is on?

We need to be able to turn off audio notifcations for things like chat.
(It's the difference between being able to use teams or having to use another one. It's that important.)
Please update the options to allow switching between the new and old sound, and provide a third option probably.
I prefer the old sound over this as I used headphones.
Baner to triger sound notification ? - This is the stupidest ever feature MS implemented.
How the heck I can disable banner without disable sound notification for messages !?
What does one have to do with the other?
MS make everithing possible to annoy greater ammount of people - successfuly!
This new approach is far worse, i had to turn off sound altogether which is a new problem since we use teams for our phones
The new sound has forced me to mute notifications from Teams entirely. Either revert it or give us an option to customize the sound.
Also, how did it take you guys THREE YEARS to misinterpret the original request into "arbitrarily change the default notification noise"?? The original request clearly states the desire for customization at EVERY STEP (of both volume and sound), yet there is no customization AT ALL in what you've done.

Please revert the sound or provide more options for sound notifications. I don't want to hear every message, only calls.
The new sound is AWFUL AND JARRING
GIVE US THE OPTION TO CUSTOMIZE THE SOUND TO WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR
Why can't we do custom sounds? That little boink sound is the same little boink sound for everything else and on every other computer. So when I have several computers in my area all making those little boink sounds and I have my back to my computer because I am working on something else I miss messages. In Skype for business I had a sound that let me know that I had a message, I knew it was on my PC, and it was loud enough for me to hear even if my back was turned and I was busy with another computer.
Paul Stejskal commented
That is probably the only way for them to see it. It is infuriatingly annoying and is easier to miss notifications now.
The new notification sound is VERY annoying. I've muted the app completely until you let us change the sound back to what it was before or something else.
GOOD GOD PLEASE LET ME GO BACK TO THE OLD SOUNDS!
Your updated sound is TERRIBLE. It is SO distracting. You're wayyyy off the mark here.
Add to this that the notification system doesn't use the Mac OS notifications APIs (not sure why, it doesn't do anything special) and it doesn't respect "do not disturb", I hear constant "bloop!" "bloop!" when I'm on a phone call with people. No joke, I literally had to put my entire computer on mute during phone calls multiple times in the last week because unrelated notifications were so loud.
Also, just because someone messaged me DOESNT mean I need to hear it or switch my attention to it right away. Thats what the alert badge is for. I don't want to interrupt my work just because I got a message. This is FAR too distracting.
My solution is going to end up being mute all notifications all the time because you dont have any granular settings here. Such a shame.
You're trying to create one product for EVERY type of business and work environment. You're not going to get there with a one size fits all solution. Offer options please.
