Improve audio notifications
VOLUME: The sound is too low!! Most people don't think it's even on. Let us customize the sound level, please.
UNIQUE SOUNDS FOR CALLS VS CHATS/MESSAGES: Right now sounds are all or nothing. This is not good. For example, you may want to have sound for Calls but not for chat or messages. There is a difference when you need to hear that someone is calling you – versus getting the constant bing/bing/bing on message chat.
UNIQUE SOUND FOR PRIVATE CHAT: It would be nice to have different sounds for private chat and notifications, so that its easy to know what's coming in without having to look at it.
The team has updated the default sound for Teams notifications so it is more noticeable. We are in final testing, with a goal to release the new sound by the end of this quarter.

I'm pilling on because this is causing a major headache in adoption in our organization. We have a planned conversion date of March 2nd and this is one issue is a major blocker. Everything in SFB is adjustable to custom sounds... Teams... nah.. Take it and smile *****.
Is it still going to be broken if I set my computers time in the future?
Notifications (chimes etc) should be configurable per user, per event and even per contact.
IM (CHAT) is totally useless as the tiny bing is easily missed and just to short.
SFB had much better functionality.

I love using Teams, but if I'm working on my other screen, I often don't see the Teams chat notification, and the sound isn't loud enough!
Also, it would be great to have a secondary 'ping'. I have a headset plugged in, but don't always wear it. The option to set another audible notification outside my headset would be great.
I agree. I often miss messages in Teams due to the notification being similar to Outlook. I also think that having the icon flash on the bar at the bottom like Skype would be awesome since there is then the visual part.

Yes!!! Please respond Microsoft!! I keep missing chat messages! What good is the chat function if I don't even know I've got a message? They may as well send me an email. This is awful.

Since there has been a flurry of merges for this topic, let me reiterate: Notifications (including sounds) MUST be configurable per-team, per-channel, and per-person.
Where there are many channels, some will be high-volume but low-priority. Others will be low-volume and critical priority. Not being able to distinguish between them makes notifications effectively useless. You're either flooded with low-priority stuff which conditions you to ignore them, or you don't get notifications for anything.
Either way, you are very likely to miss a critical message.
Almost three years and there is still no fix? Why does Microsoft come out with products that are user UNfriendly? Does it take 10 years to fix the sound issue?

Nothing for 16 months from an administrator? I"m not sure what to expect since my issue I reported was just merged with this issue. I hope you are working on rolling out a solution to this issue! As a user who reviews for accessibility using a screen reader, I'm not able to hear the sounds while listening and miss notifications. Slack allowed me more flexibility in sound options and I never had a problem with that application.
I'm a home worker with a high-tone hearing loss and do not wear my hearing aids all the time. With Skype it is not a problem as the sounds can be controlled and the Skype icon on the Task bar flashes quite well but with Teams if I do not start the chat I only find out that someone is contacting me when an email notification comes through, too late! Why did you not include functionality that was well accepted and relied upon in Skype?
We are also about to transition to Teams-Only mode so any Skype contacts will get diverted to Teams, so that puts Andrey Veshchev's use of Skype out of the window.

I agree, the sound is non-existant and needs updating. if I'm concentrating on something, I have no chance of noticing that someone is speaking to me. as a remote worker, it makes you feel you have to watch it so that you know if you're being spoken to.
Add noises, please!!!
how is this still not added it should not take that long to roll out.
Sound notifications for desktop/laptops need to be added for chats, mentions etc. and they need to repeat at least once (maybe 1 minute later) if unattended to currently you can only have a banner and or email. The volume control should be sufficient to make it loud enough to hear or soft enough not to interfere. MANY of us use Teams on our computers and not our phones so this feature would be useful.
an audio alert would be great
unbelievable, years for such a minor improvement, and yet tons of updates been done, even a new company startup for a phone apps done much better
a quick fix will be using web version, and turn on browser desktop notification. it will work even with their own browser.
Checking other threads, changes to notification sounds has been "under review" since some time in 2017. Is this actually a deliverable on any road map?

+1 on Ryan's comment exactly!
Please! We need a louder chat notification sound! We were told to start using Teams instead of Skype. Im not pleased with this change due to the sound and that you cant pop out a chat to have in a small window in the corner of my screen.
Please address this soon!!

This is plain stupid to have the sound so faint. We have to use Skype for Business to inform that we started a new thread in Team. Whaaaat?

Ya, I never ever post on things like this but I use this for work and its honestly a deal breaker that notifications seem so hit and miss and the sound is to subtle to notice during really busy workdays. Teams really needs the ability to modify the sound used for notifications and\or an overall volume adjustment or longer sound.
