Tag for status updates
Skype for Business supports tagging for status updates. It's a really buried feature, but one that is really helpful when trying to get in touch with someone. Would love to make this more easily available in Microsoft Teams to be better able to catch people as they become available (e.g. know when they come in in the morning, when they finish their current meeting, etc.).
I’m excited to announce that this feature is in internal testing, and should be coming soon! Thanks!~ Alex

Why roll out teams when Skype is so much better in every way?

I just noticed that from a one-on-one chat you can select Notify when available. I kept looking on the person's Contact Card. This is very useful.
Agreed, this is such a step backwards from skype, this MS Teams is horrible...

This was simple on Skype for Business - a right click to add a person and a right click to remove. I don't need a permanent notification setting for a person; it's just a temporary notification so that I know when they are free in the next few hours. Going down multiple levels through Settings is time-consuming and unnecessary. Please add functionality to the "Chat" window or "Contacts" window so this can be done easily and quickly.
May I suggest implementing this as a POST of user presence/status to a particular Team & Channel they belong to? IE; status board
OMG. This is so badly done it deserves an Oscar mention.
Please please fix it to work like it did in Skype.

I tagged someone, and can't remember how, nor untag them...help?

This is so badly implemented. Having to click down 4 levels into settings, then search and add people is crazy. Such a step back from Skype where this was accessible and simple. I cannot fathom the thinking behind how this has been delivered.

Once you've tagged someone and they left company, and you no longer have the chat/thread listed on the left hand side in Teams it's IMPOSSIBLE to untag someone for status updates so everyday I'm getting information that this person is offline. Is there other way to do it? Or this is not possible?

The user experience for this is really poor, a step backwards from Skype for Business. As other's have requested please can this be implemented using a right click context menu on contacts similar to Skype for Business' current solution.
Could this be buried any deeper in Teams...? :(

I found this feature in Settings:Notifications:Status at the VERY BOTTOM. You can add people to a list to be notified. It's kinda awkward.
I'm using teams 1.2.00.26774 and I see "Notify when available" only on users belonging to my organization.
Is there something to do to have the same feature on external users?

Has this been fully released to GA?
When is this being released? I still don't see it
Any news about this feature. If it is here I don't know how to activate it.

A simpler, more intuitive right-click approach would be much more user friendly- there are too many clicks and moves to get to where you want.
Why access "settings" at all when the options could just be displayed directly via right-click --> sub menu etc for most general use items...
Other than that - getting there :)
Are we ready to roll out the new features. Anytime line ?

UPDATE: I spoke too soon - I see "Notify when available" on the ... menu for any individual in Chat. Silent rollout, @Alex?
It would be great if access to this feature wasn't just at the bottom of Teams Settings > Notifications > Status - but let you flag individuals in the context of chat or channel convos. There is an occasional prompt that lets you do it, but this would make it more convenient (and similar to the Skype for Business experience).
