How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

Save audio / video devices

On each meeting I have to re-select my audio and video devices. It would be good of those would stick, or if there a settings option to control that.

Skype for Business does this. Teams *must* do this also if we are to make the switch.

It should be set at the machine level so everyone using a Conf room with teams gets the right audio settings

This is one of the biggest complaints of my team. Other programs, even just things like spotify, automatically default to my external device for audio, if it's present. If I have my headphones plugged in, my speaker should be headphones. If I have an external mic plugged in, that should be my default. It should just KNOW, just as other programs do, such as skype, FB Messenger, and Slack. This is just basic expectations of a program with audio in the year 2018.

If that isn't possible, at least let me set my defaults in my Teams settings and remember that configuration. I'd rather have to choose new options when my out of the norm circumstances happen, then have to change it with every single meeting/phone call.

This feature should not be under review but be part of Teams from the start. It is the one reason our company does not use Teams. Please implement.

It would be nice to be able to adjust audio device settings outside of the context of a call. As far as I can see you have to call somebody to be able to adjust this. In Skype for Business you can adjust these settings anytime.

The way Teams handles audio devices has changed recently. Teams used to respect Windows' choice of audio devices, but since Teams introduced in-app audio device selection it does not anymore. I use speakers normally to listen music and plugin headset once call arrives, but Teams app is not smart enough to change the audio-out to headphones or vice versa. I need to manually change the audio-out device.

It baffles me how business analysts at company like Microsoft cannot cover all possible scenarios. They assumed users will have one default speaker and microphone when in reality lots of users have multiple devices Windows treating them as speaker, for example, when the device is actually a microphone and vice versa. I am having same issue windows keeps thinking my Yeti microphone is speaker and there is no way I can change settings from within MS Teams

It is fascinating to me how many users connect to meetings using the wrong mic/speakers/camera.

I like how Teams now shows your camera by default when joining a meeting.

It would be great if you could play some looping audio and have them confirm their audio device before joining. "Teams will play your meeting audio through this device..."

Likewise, a mic test should be REQUIRED before entering a meeting.

Finally, users often cannot find these settings once they're in a meeting as they only notice the mute/share/hang-up panel at the bottom of the screen and these settings are located in the top right. Likewise, users often cannot find the chat window in a meeting.

please allow for saving audio profiles. ie. Sometimes I want to use my Plantronics headset. Other times I want to use a mic and speakers. If I could save these and click to change and also link them to locations like skype

I definitely would like to see a "always ask prior to call" option to select the desired audio/video devices. Between home and the office, I switch between headsets and jabra speaker devices several times a day, including having multiple options 'plugged in' at any given time. There should also be a way of quicking chosing no audio (as I often use screen sharing to show my colleague sitting across from me.) I'I was also looking for a way to set the audio/video settings without making a call (to get to the gear icon).

BEFORE! As it is now, you have to fumble around with the other person looking at your silent movie.

Yes, please, make settings available before having to run into a wall first and only then be able to fix this.

Gets my vote. There's also no way to change the default ringing device (e.g. to a speakerphone device) from within the app, as there is with SfB and no way to test audio settings.

It's incredibly frustrating that to change audio settings, you have to first initiate a call with someone.

(Mac user) When in a voice call audio is playing via speakers and unable to change it to headset, it works as expected when switching to skype

    • CD commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I agree. I use multiple devices and I want to make sure the device I intend to use is set before I place a call, like in SFB. It's goofy to set a device once a call is in progress.

I would also like to see what resolution teams is choosing for my camera. In Skype for business I get 1080, but not in teams video calls.

I use a KVM and every time I swap back to my work laptop the audio / video devices need to be selected again - I don't want to wait for a call to have to figure this out / remind myself
