Ability to Copy a Team
It would be really useful to copy a team with all Channels and files/tabs associated, this way we could create a template and copy it when creating new teams

Thank you for your continued feedback. The feature team is reviewing this ask and working on a solution for team templates without content, as well as considering ways to create teams from template with content (i.e. files, etc.). We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Hi, my team is looking for a similar requirement. Our clients do demand for having a unique template allocated to a channel or a team where they can engage with their team members for a project. The main idea is to provide our clients with a standard space for all their projects they are taking up with us.

Hello,
Now, you can create new Team using existing Team as a template.
Or, you can use Templates provided by Microsoft.

I vote for it!

When I create a Microsoft Team for a project, our organization would like to be able to keep the Sharepoint structure that goes along with it.
For example if we use a Template team to create a project called 20201 and it has 7 channels in it, we would like the in sharepoint structure to come along with it if each of those channels has general files that are used on every project.
This would allow shorter project creation time, and make project leaders more likely to use Teams for their projects.

This would be a fantastic option for our organization. We would love to run our projects out of teams and we have a standard on how we organize our file structure within a project. In teams, this would be segregated into Channels. This also raises the need to grant or deny access to given users within the overall team, which is a hot topic within the forum.

Any updates on getting everything copied not just a few aspects of a team? E.g. files, wiki, etcs.

The Teams might have the option of selec all (within the text box) and copy

Warren. Your 11/22/17 comments say this will be completed by EOY, but the current status says 'Working On It.' Is it complete or do you have an ETA? Thank you.

When creating a team in the Microsoft Teams Administration Center, if you can create multiple teams with the same settings at once using templates, it will be very easy to manage, so please do implement it.

The ability to create Team templates with consistent content (files, Wiki documentation, Planner task lists, etc.) that would be copied over to the new Teams created from that template.

G'day Warren,
As per some of the other comments, great that we can now created from a template however we really do need it to clone, not just give us a few options. We want to create teams that have standard files, wiki pages and tabs to predefined links, apps etc. Is this in the works?
Very many thanks

Copying a Team as a template is great, but would save so much time if we could copy the channel's Connectors too!

Hello Microsoft Team, Could you provide a short update on the status of this important new functionality. I'm confident there would be lots of value for clients to enable your clients to create new Teams by copying public Teams templates including copying the channels, folders, files, and even creating new databases such as Planner.. Thanks in advance for your update. Brian Grady

Now, that you have achieved this, please, please, please, add the ability to copy Folders that we have created in the Files tabs of our Channels. This is extremely important, and I was just asked by your AMA team to repost this.

When creating a new team from "existing team as a template" crashes the teams app when we select the tabs like wiki, project, and etc.

When you have created a Team and you have created a SharePoint list in the background it is not copying this list over.
I setup a OneNote with some information about the Template and this was not copied over.
I setup a Planner tab with some build in tasks and this was not setup and all information gone. -

The new Create a Team using an Existing Team as a Template is great, but we very much need the ability to also copy the first level of folders under each channel.

Can you now add a check-box for Adding Folders (at least first level)

I see this feature was included in the May 2018 release. However when I copy a team, I don't have the option to configure a Connector to the channel (no option appears). The newly created team should have the same access as any other team. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks so much for the “Create a team using an existing team as a template” option available right now! Even though all channels are created in the [copy] team, the files are not.. E.g. the tab links to onenote all need to be redefined. Please include the option to include files next to channels, Tabs,Team settings, Apps, Members.
Thanks so much in advance!
Jeroen
