Allow us to turn of flashing taskbar notifications
Flashing taskbar notifications are a bit annoying, and it would be nice to have the option to turn off that flashing (while keeping popup notifications enabled).

Given how long people have been asking for this, I will share my foolproof way to disable teams flashing.
Take a square of black electrical tape and stick it directly onto your monitor.
As an epileptic I have no other choice.

Agreed. Give us the simple option for disabling it. What's wrong with Developers? After all these years when has it ever been the case that denying the end user configuration options is a good idea?

This is the worst thing about Teams. As a developer it's important for me to be able to manage how I get my notifications. In Slack they come in as a little number that ticks on without flashing. I know they're there but it's not flashing so I don't need to address it straight away if I'm busy. As Teams flashes and I work with a lot of people either I have to mute them or log out if I'm in the middle of something important. Feels like a basic feature so a shame it's been 4 years. Please consider this. Thanks for your time :)

4 years later and still annoying as ever. Has one of these user feedback forums ever accomplished anything, or is it just to give people a chance to vent and feel like they have recourse to the inept decisions of microsoft?

I only want the badge with number of new messages, which I now no longer get, but instead it flashes - useless, annoying and I miss too many messages.

Turn it off already! Especially when a taskbar is set to automatically hide!

To say this is distracting is an understatement. Please give us the option to stop the insanity. As echoed by others a simple icon badge with the number of new messages would suffice.
Thank you. -

The Icon badge with the number of new messages is fine and enough. Give us the option to disable all other distracting stuff. We need our focus to make money to pay for our Microsoft licenses.

I agree 100%. This flashing is very distracting and can only be switched off by going into teams so you have to interrupt the task you are busy with

This is possibly the single most annoying thing about Teams. I have my taskbar set to auto-hide, and Teams is _constantly_ popping it out. Even when in 'Do Not Disturb'.
I have not found any way to suppress this - Focus Assist, regedit, nothing works other than just closing Teams.

Please add an option in Teams notification settings to disable flashing.
1. This is completely unnecessary as Teams already shows a new message badge
2. It's disruptive and distracting. It completely throws off my focus in the middle of a call or a task.
I don't understand how this feature made it through user acceptance testing. It's really unpleasant. -

These notifications on the taskbar are really annoying, especially during a call or presentacion. So please give us a settings to turn this off.

Hypfer, THANK YOU. Your patch worked for me!! truly amazing how one little thing can make this somewhat ok software completely irritating and unusable, and also truly amazing how Microsoft has ignored this for 4 years. It's crazy how I decided to search for this on the same day you posted about it!!!!

If you're looking for a mitigation for this issue, search Github for "SilenTeams".
Lets see how long this comment will survive :-)

This is just ridiculous. No-one at Microsoft cares about their 'customers'. Just ignoring user voices is the exact opposite of listening and being interested in what your customers are up to. Come one Microsoft, are you really that stubborn?

If I set Teams to 'Do Not Disturb', I expect notifications of all kind, including the flashing taskbar kind, to be disabled unless the sender has Priority Access. The workaround to literally shut off the app is not acceptable since I still require senders from Priority Access to go through.

This is horrible! I set the registry flashing number to 1, but Teams just ignore it. It keeps interrupting my work constantly. Why cannot just stay orange like with other apps?! If you like flashing so much, why not just make everything blink on your webpages!

Please add the option to turn off the flashing taskbar notification already. It has been nearly 4 years now. It can't be that difficult...

I am getting my entire group to migrate to Slack because this flashing notification, among other issues with the Teams UI / app is horrendously frustrating.

I want to be able to see a flashing icon when I use the popout feature for a chat between a few people. I am in multiple teams, but the popout chats are most important for a flashing notification to me.
