Move planner tasks to another team
We have created a planner tab in most of our teams. Sometimes a task on the plannerboard has to be moved to another team (e.g. next step on a task has to be executed by a different team), which now has to be done by deleting the task in the original team and adding one in the other team with copying data from the original task.
Possible solution: when editing a task it displays the teamname and bucketname in the left top. When you click on the name you can select a different team (only teams you are subscribed to), select a bucket within that team and optional select a member to assign the task to and click on a move button
Good news, this feature is partially done. :)
Planner tasks can now be copied to other plans. To copy a task, click on the “…” menu on the task. From there, you can select a different plan to copy the task to.
Moving this across teams is very critical. You should make this top priority.
Voting to have this resolved as well. Agree with @Mike in Cairns that the functionality to move from one Team to another is crucial

Hey @Warren - This is typical of MS not addressing what the users want/need/ask for.

How does this address the requirement to MOVE PLAN TO ANOTHER TEAM.

reading this thread and i share the frustration.
even if i could save a planner tab i've created as a template, i don't want to re-type the tasks each time, but i can live with having to assign the tasks to individuals every time until a fix is found.
just created multiple plans with a range of tasks thinking "of course i can copy and paste these" and i can't
and when you copy a Plan in share point, it doesn't show up in teams, and if it does, it doesn't have the tasks
potentially a great tool here, it just needs finished
I am struggling to copy a basic planner template with about 50 tasks to various channels within the same team. I do not want to copy one at a time every time we have a new project that requires us to start from scratch. I tried copying the whole plan from the web view but it just creates a copy with no way to link back to the channel. Any solutions?
It is hard to believe this was not a user story at some point during development. Dissapointed
yes, strongly endorse the development of this functionality.
absolutely necessary feature
I am looking forward to have the option to move tasks from one plan to another plan in a DIFFERENT TEAM. This is a logical business need.
It is not suffcient that I am able to move a task from one plan to another plan INSIDE the same team (group).... I need to be able to move / copy / template it ACROSS different teams.
Seriously need this functionality! need to move a planner tab between Teams! When is a copy solution going to be available?
Agreed - still having this issue as well
Just looked to do this and seem to be able to move within a Team but not between Teams sadly
Please can we have an update as to when copying plans between Teams will be possible. Very frustrating having to recreate the tasks when assigning to another team/project.
Trying to move a Planner tab between Teams, and haven't had any luck, either. Will a quick-and-easy "copy" solution be available any time soon?
Any updates yet? The (quite simple) question was if we could please move tasks between teams.
The 'solution' offered only works within one team, so that is in no way an answer to the needs described.
Agree this would be a great feature - I run multiple projects each requiring a similar process, but a different group of people and hence a different team. The ability to move plans between Teams would be great.
(and I agree with everyone who says this is partially done - its not)

Any updates yet?

Would be very beneficial to move whole plans, buckets, and tasks from one team to another. Users are currently just deleting and recreating tasks.

Seriously why doesn't MSFT understand that things need to move between TEAMS and not just channels?
