Move planner tasks to another team
We have created a planner tab in most of our teams. Sometimes a task on the plannerboard has to be moved to another team (e.g. next step on a task has to be executed by a different team), which now has to be done by deleting the task in the original team and adding one in the other team with copying data from the original task.
Possible solution: when editing a task it displays the teamname and bucketname in the left top. When you click on the name you can select a different team (only teams you are subscribed to), select a bucket within that team and optional select a member to assign the task to and click on a move button
Good news, this feature is partially done. :)
Planner tasks can now be copied to other plans. To copy a task, click on the “…” menu on the task. From there, you can select a different plan to copy the task to.
Please implement a full move that includes all elements and users that have permissions in the new team, and don't forget the attachments!
p.s. would be great if we could define the folder the attachments go into as well!
Important to move also the assignees at least for the members in both side.

What to do if "Copy Task" and "Move Task" is greyed out?

Copying a planner only does half the job. It loses task status (all tasks revert to Not Started) and assigned to. At the very least, task status should be copied properly.
If the Assigned To person IS NOT in the destination Team, then it makes sense to lose the Assigned To. But if the Assigned To person IS in the destination Team, that should also copy properly.
Is this in the works?

I am working on a project to have a single template in Planner which we wish to use across separate, independent action plans. However when I use the Copy Plan option (which appears to imply will enable this) any changes made in the channel are duplicated in the original - i.e. it is not creating a copy but merely a new window into the original.
Are MS working to enable this functionality as otherwise I see little point in the purpose of the Copy plan option - surely if that is all that is workable you would just share the link to the original?

We also have some use cases where we have a common task for all teams and would like it to appear on each team's board by it will be managed by the general user. Please add this feature
Please look at Wrike as you can share the task between teams/boards. The permissions are combined for the task and sub tasks associated with what is shared. Please add this feature in MS Planner l, so we can have a better user experience please.

Moving Tasks between M365 Groups (ie different Teams) won't work because if you've assigned a task to someone Team A, that person may not be a member of the target plan in Team B.
So what happens then? Strip all the task assignees or add them automatically to Team B as members? What if you're an owner of Team A but only a member of Team B? You won't be able to add the task assignee to Team B....it will get rather messy!
The option to move to another plan seems to be in the move option but the drop down for plan doesn’t show any of the other plans on the system? When is this going to be fixed?
Note, even if we could just copy it to another plan rather than moving it entirely would be a lot better than having to recreate them from scratch each time we realise it needs to be somewhere else.

We have started to collect tasks for a new project in a specific bucked of an existing (operational) Plan. In the meantime this project has been started and a corresponding Teams initialised.
> now I would like to MOVE this bucket to the new Team! Two step procedure would be ok (1. move bucket to other Plan in same team, 2. move whole plan to new team)
this copy still does not work - MS support confirmed did not work on theirs either
Yep it seems to me too that this isn't possible! Not good, this is basic, basic functionality...
It should be possible to copy/move
- a card/task to a plan in another team
- a list to a plan in another team
- a plan to another team
We are looking at moving our project management to Teams but this is a serious obstacle. How can we not be able to create a task template to be reused within any team we want to?
So was partially done, but no undone and no update on it being updated?
Nice MS --- fix!!

WTF this is still note possible ???

Elementary things should not be implemented so lately.
I agree with David -- This is not even partially done. This is a 2 year old thread; are you telling me this is still not a working feature?

Partially done.... not really...
Need to be able to move tasks to other team spaces. Not currently available, not even partially available.
Please advise if the ability to move a task between teams can be done or if there are plans to hae it done.
Need to retain the legacy comment information and currently there is no option to do so. This is definitely an oversight relating to the planner tool and the MS Teams environment.
