This is important to us as well. When an employee leaves, we provide access to the prior employee's mailbox to whoever takes over their duties. The ability to search through the prior person's email messages, BUT ALSO CHATS (IMs) is incredibly useful for us. We use IM a LOT internally, and many decisions are made within those conversations that need to be stored and referenced later on, often by someone else a year or 2 down the line.
I have postponed my update because this will make transitioning roles within the company more difficult. I haven't found a proper archiving solution for individual one-on-one messages, nor a simple way for a new user to review the activity of a prior person's one-on-one chats outside of a Team/channel fully. Apparently there is a method using MFCMAPI, or exporting them from Compliance center then (I guess) importing that data BACK into the new user's mailbox? Both of these are complicated and present a timesink every time there is turnover.
It's also important that the archiving method does NOT require much training to get the person onboarded. Many new employees know Outlook's search functionality already, so there is little training burden to point them to a folder in Outlook and say, that's where the chat history is. Search works like normal, if you have a specific query don't forget to search the Conversation History folder too...
Please provide this archiving in Outlook feature like S4B had, so I can move the company over to Teams.

I have to have history to be able to attach within my company's ERP software. I'm given instruction by supervisors and co-workers all the time on how to handle an issue. Because those are not my decision to make, I have to attach that communication. Until this is fixed, my internal email usage will sky rocket.

Please add this feature! One of the the most useful features of SFB isn't available in Teams....

For law firms, this is an important feature. Having a conversations sent to Outlook allows us to store them in our document management system to create a full picture of the matter. As others have said, without this, its yet another reason for us to have to stay on Skype.

And please include past historical conversation history when making this an option, if possible.

I agree. I cannot use Teams Chat function until it saves the history into Outlook Email. I need to have a record and it needs to be in the same place as my email, searchable with the same searches. This is a deal breaker for using Teams for us.

Yes, please make this update. Also, if possible, can this be applied to all historical convos in Teams that occurred prior to this update?

Teams/Outlook should have the same end user view/functions for chat history.
