I want to edit my display name or give myself a nickname
When I @mention a team member it displays them as Last Name, First name which really interrupts the conversational flow. Slack lets me edit my display name.
This REALLY needs to happen. Utilizing the default naming convention don't always work. There needs to be a setting under our profile to input an alias and opt-in to use it as the display name.

User display name can be customized to facilitate finding memory
(Ability to customize user display name to allow better identification of individuals.)

If implemented, this should be an option.

Is it possible to remove the username (or make it show email instead of username) displayed under the Display Name when beginning a chat with a user?
Hi, please can we consolidate this into this one? I like this idea, let's pool our votes here. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17001799-use-the-user-alias-instead-of-displayname-in-menti

Yes, like VSTS, let me choose my own display name 😊

Also inviting guests, Teams use their email address as 'display name' which is annoying.
After you @mention someone, you can backspace and delete the surname. This will leave it like @givenname

It would be good to have options to change how the display name is shown, the organisation default is Last Name then First Name...
It would be good to be able to amend this in local user settings.

I'd love to have a "display name" option in the profile that allows a user to set the name as he/she would like it to appear. That way I don't have to edit the name each time I write a post.

It also adds your organization after - we just need names, not what part of the company they're apart of too!

I agree - will we have the ability to change this setting on an admin level for our organization?
I see a lot of different one-off posts about this.

When I '@' someone it compiles the name into our internal corporate string which is surname, firstname and then an internal reference indicator.
It would be good if the intended behavior is the same as in yammer where I can post a name as firstname or firstname and lastname.
Let users choose a display name.
Our organisation's default Active Directory names take the form of "[surname], [first name] ([office])". It's incredibly difficult to read usernames in messages, especially when more than on username is tagged at a time :(
Yes, how do you switch round last name display to be first name?

Also when someone is invited to a teamsite, the email contains only the first name and not the lastname. So the sentence would be like: "<firstname> added you to <teamname> team!"
Hope we can make this a bit more consistent or configurable.
I also have a Teams user account that has had a number of temps in it, I always change the display name for their email etc in Office 365 Admin but it doesn't seem to filter through to Teams. How can we align the two?
