Allow users to enable push to talk in group meetings
Allow the users to configure to enable push to talk in group meetings.
Thank you for your continued feedback, we have not forgotten about this ask. The feature remains on our backlog. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
In the meantime, you can try using the keyboard shortcut to toggle mute (Ctrl+Shift+M). For more information on keyboard shortcuts, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/keyboard-shortcuts-for-microsoft-teams-2e8e2a70-e8d8-4a19-949b-4c36dd5292d2.

Starting remote work and this is nearly mandatory for me, muting / unmuting is really a chore
A most basic feature of any workable teleconferencing system... Teams really needs PTT.
As a further development, there should be an option to drop output level (I'd try -6 dB but why not just add a slider) and/or mute all output while speaking to avoid feedback when using speakers instead of a headset.

Very interested in this idea. This a basic feature request that many calling apps have. Going to echo Hugh's comment about this behaving like a walkie talkie.
Where you at with an update, Warren? It's been a year.
Cmon Microsoft. In a world where everyone knows how to use push-to-talk and only the olds are on open mic, this should have been a day 1 feature. It takes over a year to add a configurable button?

This is super basic stuff and sorely needed for those in remote teams that use Teams as an office.
That guy that keeps typing like a madman on his mechanical keyboard you have to mute all day? Yeah, you. You need to push the button when you want to talk :-)
QoL feature for massive meetings as well!

This appears to work.

This would be the most useful feature of Teams, x100. It's nearly unsable without either push-to-talk, or at least some hot key to toggle talk on/off, as the UI is so slow (on both desktop and mobile) when trying to unmute.

Put me on the list of supporters.
I agree with Marc's comment. Zoom uses the behavior of temporary unmute whilst pressing down spacebar. It is incredibly useful when in a meeting with lots of people where anyone may need to talk for only a few moments. Once spacebar is released, mute is automatically re-engaged.
Few things are more frustrating than when someone forgets to remute themselves after talking (we all do this sometimes) and then we all need to later figure out who is generating the distracting background noise.
Would definitely be useful in our industry

I'm in a meeting right now and I'm having to mute/unmute my mic over and over again. This is so inconvenient.
Please add this feature - sorely needed
Any updates on this? Very missed
Please add this feature. Also make it walkie talkie vs toggle configurable for user preferences.
You have companies switching from Skype and this was available in Skype.
Is there any update since August 2018? I'd love this feature too.
I would like this too
Yes, please. I've seen this feature in another app and it's fantastic. Temporary unmute by holding the spacebar.
