Allow users to enable push to talk in group meetings
Allow the users to configure to enable push to talk in group meetings.
Thank you for your continued feedback, we have not forgotten about this ask. The feature remains on our backlog. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
In the meantime, you can try using the keyboard shortcut to toggle mute (Ctrl+Shift+M). For more information on keyboard shortcuts, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/keyboard-shortcuts-for-microsoft-teams-2e8e2a70-e8d8-4a19-949b-4c36dd5292d2.

please add this feature now with the coronavirus alot of people is working at home and there is alot of noise during meetings, push to talk will be a great improve
When is the feature coming? It would be super important!
The (un)mute button does not function as PTT - it is very very laggy.

Yes! This is sorely needed. I would also suggest:
* Meeting creator can enforce on all members
* There be a "lock" feature where you can lock it on, but in that mode it should do something like a regular, quiet, beep that only you can hear when in lock mode to remind you that you're "live"
It's extremely sad, but even in $current_year so many people don't seem to understand that you should mute unless you're actively talking.
Would be a killer feature on mobile, too. There could just be a giant button you can press and hold while talking only and stay muted for the rest of the time.
The muting option on mobile currently is sort if inconvenient when I use the device, instead of speakers, to listen to a meeting.
I want PTT as well! It should definitely be a mapable key though, or the "`" key.
This would be great. I love this feature in Zoom and use it every day. It would also be great if you could press a hotkey to temporarily unmute even when the conferencing app doesn't have focus.
Push-to-talk is a basic and crucial feature of any group-call focused software. It should be the default, the majority of users do not understand the concepts of feedback and echo which makes group calls a living nightmare.
How this was not a feature from launch is beyond me.
Would also be great if it was customisable.
I can imagine the implementation could be a bit challenging as the hotkey should not trigger when typing in e.g. the chat window. The current shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+M works, but is just not as convenient as a dedicated PTT key on the keyboard.

This is why i hate using MS products, they are so far behind the rest of the world. Yet at work here I am requesting a very simple and obvious option.

This would be excellent for firstline workers on mobile clients. Automatically place the attendee on mute, un-mute when they press-to-talk, and then go back on mute.
Please, please, please add this feature to Teams. As a user of voice conferencing/collaboration tools for 15 years, it's brutal to use Teams as much as I do everyday, and not have this option.
I'm in meetings in Teams for 7 of the 8 hours of my workday, every day. Adding this feature would certainly change my life for the better!
Thank you, in advance, to the Teams teams that are working on this, and godspeed!

Note that Zoom does this, and it helps calls with many participants.
Mute all by default.
Press space when talking.
Result: less background noise.

Definitely would like to see this as a "must" feature for teams.
Would love both as a feature configurable on the user side ("set mute mode to PTT") as well as maybe even a meeting organizer feature - to require PTT and mute by default.

I don't understand how they still didn't deploy this and how this is still UNDER REVIEW.
It's more than required.

Likewise, I use video conferencing very often for work in group discussions, and not having push-to-talk is really shocking. It has been a feature of almost every VoIP application I have used. Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Discord -- even software like Xfire which had VoIP as an after-thought had PTT. Why the glaring omission? There is a noticeable lag between muting/unmuting a microphone through the Teams interface.
This should really be implemented in a way that is similar to teamspeak/discord etc with various rooms

Starting remote work and this is nearly mandatory for me, muting / unmuting is really a chore
