100% agreed with Nathan & Simon! We should think of message preview as a productivity tool -- allowing you to quickly assess how much attention the new msg warrants.

Message notifications have this - but we need it in Team Chat. I want to preview the message via notification so I can know how important it is and if I need to reply right then or not.

It is very useful. Sometimes we just want a notification saying "It's done!", but it is not worthy to create many different channels and connectors.
https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17022934-notification-for-connectors achieved 50%, but sometimes it is too noisy to follow a channel.

I couldn't agree more.
When I use Skype the message preview in notifications lets me quickly decide if I want to interrupt what I'm doing and switch over to read further and/or reply. If I decide I don't care about the message now then no user interaction on behalf to ignore it.
On the other hand with Teams all I get told is person ABC has posted a new message or replied to a message in channel XYZ. I'm forced to open Teams to decide if I care about dealing with the message right now. And if I don't care about the message I've now wasted my time switching to Teams and then back to whatever app I was previously using. This is MUCH more disruptive to my flow, especially for high traffic channels. Alternatively I could just not switch to Teams upon receiving a notification but that defeats the point of having the notification in the first place.
