Bug? Uploading team logo does not always work
I experienced this error several times now. I created a new team and tried to upload a team picture. No matter which size or file type (png, jpg), I always get the message "Problem uploading your picture. Please try again later."
Then I created another team and the picture upload worked without any problem. After waiting approx. 5 minutes, uploading worked on the first team.
Why is that? Do we just have to wait some time before we add a team picture? Then some notification would ne nice when creating a new team.
Great work by the way! :-)
I know that this is pretty lame...BUT..I was trying to upload a new avatar and getting the same frustration...I couldn't see the location from which I wanted to choose an image...and tried many times...clicking on the location again and again...when I force quit Teams I saw that there were several windows ( from where I wanted to choose an image) BEHIND the full size Teams window...so I reduced the size of the Teams window, selected 'Upload' and then saw the location window pop up, selected my image and BAM! Done in 10 seconds...no everlasting Save uploader...hope it helps someone out there.
Same issue, July 2020.
First team I created upload image worked fine, second one, no dice.
This is something that you do generally want to change straight after you create the Team when you are setting everything up. It's crazy that your workflow needs to be "1. create team, 2. wait an indeterminate period of time to change the icon."
This, along with similar timing and sync issues with the integrated OneNote class notebook, is the sort of inconsistent bug that is turning a lot of the less tech savvy teachers at my school off Microsoft Teams.
Still an issue - june 2020
I have faced with "we were unable to uploaded your image" error.
could you please help me, why it's happened?
This seems like a silly fix but I was having the same problem clicking the "upload" button to add an icon in MS Teams. I accidentally clicked the tiny picture icon above the word "upload" and it worked! Now, why would you think to click the picture instead of the word upload especially when you mouse over the word upload you get a line indicating that this is the link to click! My goodness...
same issue - at first it was like above "Problem uploading ...". So I tried JPEG JPG and PNG. no dice.
then it didn't even let me click "Upload" - it is just a hand icon as the mouse, and no ability to press any buttons. How is it possible that Teams is this glitchy?
It is baffling that in 2020 this is still an issue. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. How come it takes upwards of 20 minutes to upload a 20K image avatar?
Same issue although teams seems to be completely stuck and utterly useless/unusable on "Saving changes"...
Manage Team > Settings > Team Picture > Change Team Picture
Worked for me!

Getting the error message "There was a problem saving the photo. Please try again." However when I upload the same picture on another Team it works fine.
I was having this issue. I deleted the team I'd just created, re-created it, waited about an hour, and then found that the "upload" icon finally worked.
You just need to wait for the team to be completely set up. Check "Assignments" section to find out when that is done.
Then you can e.g. go to "Manage team" -> "Settings" -> "Team theme" and hit the upper half of the "Upload" button!
Just worked for me.

hold down ctl key when clicking upload if you're not getting a window. this will work.
Same error when I upload to multiple teams.

Same here, nothing is happening when pressing upload (just as showed in the video on this page.
Come on Microsoft !!!
Playing around with this a little, I discovered that the "Upload" button below the "Team avatar" text in the "Edit other details" popup has some dead spots. If you click in the space above the "Upload" text or the picture graphic on the button (basically the top 1/2 of the button), it works. If you click the text itself (the bottom 1/2 of the button), it does not seem to work. At least that how it is working for me today.
The upload button simply does nothing. This occurs in both the web based and desktop client. It must work sometimes as some teams have custom images.
Truly half-baked. How, with the development resources that MS has at its disposal does this stuff go on for years?

Same problem here :( Except this time, the Upload button just wouldn't work, and it gets stuck on the "Saving changes" screen.
I found the solution! Delete the team from under Manage Teams » Groups, and create a new one.
That solved it for me so maybe the default team created with the O365 account is somehow misconfigured...
