Allow removal of people from Group Chats
Once a person is added to a group chat. You cannot remove them. You must create a new chat and lose all the history.
Removing people from group chats is available on desktop and mobile. Please see this article for details: https://support.office.com/article/leave-or-remove-someone-from-a-group-chat-7db55a67-0ba4-4409-a399-5ed502a1d094.
Note: Your admin will need to turn on this setting to allow members to remove each other from a group chat.

This is blowing my mind. How on earth is this not a thing already?

Too bad the company I work at didn't stick with Slack. Good Lord this thing is horrible
It would be sensible and functional for there to be a facility to remove someone from a chat.
Pretty dumb how this isn't already implemented lol.

We use the group chat with our help desk because the people would try and hunt us down individually for my team. This was working great until they started having turnover. People weren't "leaving" the chat before resigning and since the number of people in chat is limited, we have no way to clean this up and still keep everything as is.
We wouldn't want to have a "Team" with the Help Desk. In essence, we are two "Teams" using this as a communication method.

How is this feature coming along? Any updates on when this feature will be available?
Can we please have this basic functionality added? I can't believe it's not already there.
Please can this be added - it's proving a real issue for us....

Please create this feature. This is stopping us from using the chat in a dynamic team.
This needs to be added. Especially for organizations that utilize Teams. When a person in chat has their company email deactivated they are not able to leave and there is no way to remove them without creating a brand new chat, effectively removing all chat history.

To me this is a must have feature and also a high priority. Without this feature we are forced to stop using Teams and look at other apps

The group chat is restricted to 20 users. If a user leaves the org and does not exist the group, the user who is replacing the user cannot join the group. This is really a very vital functionality which is required. The user who starts the group should have a control over the group.
Such simple functionality, please add soon. What if someone dies? Is everyone in the Group chat supposed to look at their name every time and can't remove them??

This is ridiculous that an admin can't remove a user. Together this and the low user limit are the kiss of death for long running group chats. We've had to resort to doing this manually when we terminate an employee so we don't max out our chats with 20 users.
I don't see why this functionality takes such a long time to be picked up. The functionality is basically already there. A user can leave a group chat himself. How hard can it be someone from the group can trigger this "leave functionality" for someone else in the group? There is already an overview page with all the group chat members. Just add a link behind each person with: Remove from group.

How has this been pushed to the backlog? This is BASIC functionality!

I'd like to remove participants from a group chat or meeting. This is similar to what's available in Skype for Business.
hi whats up what are you doing

We have a year-long chat amongst a 20+ person team that we would lose a lot of context for because we're unable to administratively remove people no longer with the company.
Its not able to remove user from existing group chat, when user is not more available on Teams(inactive or deleted user).
