Allow removal of people from Group Chats
Once a person is added to a group chat. You cannot remove them. You must create a new chat and lose all the history.
Removing people from group chats is available on desktop and mobile. Please see this article for details: https://support.office.com/article/leave-or-remove-someone-from-a-group-chat-7db55a67-0ba4-4409-a399-5ed502a1d094.
Note: Your admin will need to turn on this setting to allow members to remove each other from a group chat.

People come and go. It's important to not lose context of the chat history, for the remaining members, when someone does. Having to start a new chat is not the ideal solution.

This really is a basic feature of any chat app. I'm very puzzled as to why it is so difficult to implement it in MS Teams.
After you add someone to a group chat you cannot remove them. It appears that the person has to leave the group chat.
Currently Admin not able to remove participants to a group the admin created. Participants left the company, not able to remove self from the group.
The idea is to create a chat group with few users together and when the group discussion is over, can I remove or delete 1 or 2 user from the chat group.
I need to be able to remove people from dept chat groups as they leave my department
I feel like I am living in an alternate reality where a feature like this requires a request and is not inherently there out of the box. Agile is not an excuse for delivering software that is devoid of coherent design.

Re-creating a chat group and losing the chat history isn't a great option if you want to maintain continues group communication. If you can remote some from a team or channel adding the ability to remove them from a chat group is the next logical step.
I accidentally added a person to the wrong conversation in Teams. and now I can't delete them from the conversation group! You know how your cell phone works when you create a group text, where you can add or delete people? Well, Teams needs the same feature!!! You shouldn't have to create an entire new conversation everytime you want to chat with a specific group of people. Having a team or a channel is one thing, but we need the capability to form a group chat just like on your cell phone...!!!

Or at least be able to remove yourself from a group chat if you're no longer interested in being part of it. Especially now that you get notified of every message anyone types in a group chat, it can get pretty annoying.

Allow the creator of a chat group to remove members that were added accidentally or are no longer needed. This is basic functionality that is in Google Chats.
After adding contacts to a chat group, unable to remove contacts
Currently cannot remove a user from a chat room once they have been added. This would be really helpful if we could remove someone from a chat room when they are no longer needed in it.

This is not the same as the "mute or leave a group chat" request. An owner should be able to remove users from a group chat and delete inappropriate or useless messages.
For years we have used an OpenFire/Spark Jabber server to provide a team chat room that keeps going in perpetuity. MS Teams Chat could replace that IF we can manage the chat room (group chat thread) in the same way. Maybe the solution is to add an actual "Chat Room" feature?
I realize that Team Channels may be the intended answer to a chat room feature but, those are limited to team members. Teams Chat allows anyone in the organization including Sype4Biz users which is powerful.
How to remove member from chat -group?
Its now in planning stage.

We need to be able to remove users from chat. Either gives this option to the creator/owner of the chat thread or allow the O365 Admins the ability to remove users from chats.
We have many "Teams" that people move in and out of. For instance: "Training" is for new staff, then they get moved to "Sales". We need to be able to remove them out of the Training Chat.
Basically Admins/Moderators/Owners need much more control over Chat.

A failure of this magnitude is unprecedented, just wow.
