Function for sending a countdown to channel or person
I suggest adding a feature that sends a countdown to a channel or person (a line of text that counts down to a specific time).
In it's simplest from it would just be a command like /countdown [minutes] [description] that would add a line of text to the chat which would continuously be updated to count down.
Just a simple countdown is the main reason for this idea but it can be built upon further and improved in many ways such as:
* Popup with a date/time selector
* Link that let's you add the countdown to your calendar
* Count up function for times in the past (or expired countdowns)
* Clicking save on a countdown could add a notification when it expires
* Countdown only visible to you (reminder)
* Graphical way to indicate that a countdown has expired
* Share countdown with other channels or people (some way to quickly copy it)
* Recurring countdown (when it expires it starts counting down to the next occurrence)
* Tab to keep track of multiple countdowns

Highly needed for workshops! It would be good to be able to have the same timer active simultaneously in breakout rooms.

A countdown to a deadline or due date would increase the attention my students give that assignment! Also, help them with time management skills. I would prefer a day:hour:minute:second format, personally.

Any updates on that? I am looking for this kind of resource to "control" the time on on-line presentations. Thanks in advance.

A countdown to an event (specific date/time) as well as a countdown to ‘end of meeting’ would be ideal. Clearly our discussions are far too engaging and exciting!

Would love to have such a function, even if its just a countdown that during a meeting / call makes timeboxes visible.

I just thought of this idea today. It would be great to have a tab on the chat where we can add countdowns and view all current countdowns. This would help keep track of important deadlines that everyone in the team needs to be aware of as well as add a fun way to count down to the next company holiday.

This was the first thing that came up when it occurred to me to have a countdown to an event in an MS Teams channel. Great idea! Good for deliveries, launches, deadlines, sprints, even special time bound events like hackathons.

I would really like this function as well. I used https://callie-corgi.herokuapp.com within Slack and something simple like this was all that was needed to meet our requirements.

Is there a way to have a countdown timer in a MS Teams meeting? So when you are in an active session, people can see how much time is left for that session helping the facilitator / speaker / timekeeper.

In an international company, countdown time would help global teams know, regardless of timezone, how long left in their timezone until a change or event was occuring.

It would be great to have this as a countdown to exams to keep students motivated to work.

Was jokingly looking for a teams countdown for a team lunch but now that I think about it some sort of "days left" functionality would be useful for things like sprint endings, deployments, etc..
In Slack we had SlackBot remind us periodically of upcoming deadlines...

Until a moment ago I hadn't come across a use for this. Now I need something that counts down to a launch in Teams - would welcome this type of addin
